More handwriting headcanons, but this time it’s for various Papyruses!

Obviously there are more Papyruses that exist, these are just the main ones that came to mind first :P

Font names and reasoning under the cut:

Papyrus: Papyrus (because…. c’mon. we all know why)

Stretch: bRee (he gets lowercase letters because he’s a sleepy guy, and the only reason the Ts look a little sharp is because he was probably thinking about Smart Guy Shit again)

Edge: COLORS OF AUTUMN (upper case letters because loud, and sharp like his personality)

Crooks: kindergarden (his letters are big but not all caps because he’s lost some of the spark that would’ve otherwise made him more like OG Paps, and his handwriting is a little wibbly wobbly because head trauma impairs your motor skills sometimes, making it hard to keep your hand movements, or even just regular movements, smooth and steady)

Mutt: alanis hand (he gets lower case and small because he’s another sleepy guy with no confidence)

Charm (UL Paps): Bigdey Demo (dude gets fancy halfway cursive handwriting because he’s a fancy boy. being fancy and stylish is his whole thing, and he adds little hearts in sometimes if he’s in a particularly good mood)

Jupiter (OT Paps): PIGMENTDEMO (personality wise, I just feel like he’d be very similar to OG Paps, and they probably have a lot of the same habits and things, which could easily carry over into their writing. Their handwriting is similar, but still visually different at the end of the day)

Tango (DT Paps): Rock Salt (big letters and all caps here because he’s a louder, more outgoing guy, and even if he’s not super confident 24/7, that’s still the image that he likes to display to others, so they get the impression that he’s the most confident man on the planet. His handwriting is also a bit fancy in its own way, which kinda reflects his whole thing with dancing)

Phantom (DT Paps): Coffee House (ominous looking, sharp, and all caps, because he is literally the creepy dude who tells Dust to maim people and be homicidal. Sometimes he uses lower case, but when he’s especially worked up about something, he goes back to his all caps ways)

Cider (FT Paps): A Hundred Miles (his letters aren’t the biggest, but he still uses all caps. It’s nice looking, if a little on the messy side sometimes because he does so much with his hands on the farm, and they’re probably sore by the time he finishes)

Grim (RT Paps): Silent Reaction (all caps cursive is a nightmare to look at, and he’s been around long enough that he’s painfully aware of that, so he’s brought it down a few notches and uses proper capitalization. He’s had centuries to make his handwriting nice and neat, and while he does like making it look nice, he’s often more concerned about getting all of his work done. Little bonus is that he unintentionally makes the dot above the i look kinda like a candle flame)

That other anon was on a ROLL with their Dust / Murder takes, (Crowshipping my beloved) so i'm here to... offer up some content for the masses... [holds out my tray like a little victorian boy showing you my wares]

I.. really like the thought of Murder working with Core Frisk for the Omega Timeline.. More than I like the thought of him working for Nightmare.. I see it as him doing it for both "community service" and just needing to do something with himself, mostly to redeem himself through assisting those who's AUs have been savaged by who-knows-what. It's to fill the void nestled deep within him, the guilt of killing everyone he loved, the trauma, he's trying to make up for it by helping a little sort of undead(?) kid run a timeline for refugees and monsters who just wanna chill.

EEK what if he has a nice little house. and vases with flowers. and he works on his trauma can we have some healthy Murder Sans moments everyone. Please. Let him be healthy once more.

(And hey maybe while we're at it we can give Killer the support he needs but maybe I'masking for a bit too much now)

I love that. He deserves that for himself. Just Murder chilling in his little house with his flowers and his altars to Death, helping out where he can and just finally able to relax and heal.

I’d think seeing that might help killer feel more certain that the same is possible for him, but itll probably take a long while before that happens. especially if this killer knew a dust that was with nightmare. hes more likely to avoid dust in that case, he definitely tormented the dust that was with him while in stage 2 and seeing a dust might just force him into stage 2 anyway.

but anyway I want murder to be able to stop & so what hes always wanted and receive actual support and help that isnt with the caveat that he must keep hurting and killing people like itd be in a bad sans au. and id imagine that grimm and reaper are very proud of their priest(ess) for managing to get this far, and will always attempt to support murder’s other worshipping versions the same.

Imagine how stressed Reaper, Grim, Life, and Ink are from the Nightmare's Gang just ending everyone and how that is affecting the Life and Death balance, bro

Just like, Reaper and Grim are being overworked as fuck

Life is trying her best at recycling the souls but there is just so much

Ink just trying to help with Reaper, Death, and Life jobs but he can't really do much due to not being a part of that balance.

And with my headcanon where Ink is in some way connected the Multiverse as well, shit is hurting them as well

the idea started as a crackship. i was joking with my friend how murder's name is murder, and reaper's representation animal is crow, and the saying about "a murder of crows" and stuff (i nicknamed the ship "crowshipping" lmao). later on, it became more serious as i think about how murder's story and possible endings will always revolve around death. he is a reluctant murderer trapped in a constant cycle of killings because his story ("fate") decides it to be so. canonically he can/will never escape his universe. he doesn't have the reset abilities to turn back time, so he will forever be haunted by his empty universe if the human decides to quit. that type of loneliness, his only eternal companion is death, metaphorically of course.

but what if it's not metaphorical? what if death - reaper - is there to witness what murder has done over and over again? to reaper, murder is like the harbinger of death. everywhere he goes, death occurs. reaper has to come to dusttale time and time again because the murdered souls call for him. both murder and reaper are tied together in that sense, by their stories and roles/functions.

i don't know if this is a fluffy ship/duo or not, since i don't know if murder can even see reaper normally? i'd imagine you can only see reaper if you're close to death, and murder refuses to die. but i'd like to imagine murder kinda knows someone (other than his phantom brother) is watching over him in a way.

That’s a sorta adorable dynamic I’ll admit. Someone watching over you, although with the type of person murder is, it might lead to more paranoia than anything at first. Especially if he can’t tell if the feeling is real or a hallucination.

Itd be interesting to imagine their first meeting, or if murder ever manages to leave his timeline and gain an answer. perhaps even from killer, whose whole deal with Resetting has likely managed to meet reaper a few times.

and escape him but thats not that important. killer is a spiteful little bitch, nothing new.

anyway the potential dynamic between murder and reaper is honestly kinda fantastic, especially if you lean into the idea ive seen floating around that murder kinda delusionally believes himself to be the Angel in the prophecy, liberating the Underground and bestowing mercy upon them by not allowing the human to kill them first. a sorta justification for himself.

and hell, reaper is an actual death god, people in real life already worship the gods. it’s only fitting for the supposed Angel of Death to leave offerings for the death God(s), yeah? crow bones. crow feathers. dead leaves and plants. animal skulls already dead.

Reading any myths that Reaper and Grim (Reapertale Papyrus) have told about them. ways to worship and venerate them if you wanna go that route with a murder sans who has managed to somehow leave his timeline.

hell maybe thats how murder manages to cope with what he does to other timelines in aus where nightmare kidnaps him and forces him to work for him. make it dedicated to the Death gods themselves, and maybe his victims who he never wanted to hurt or kill will be lead safely into whatever afterlife exists.
