ACNHHH here. It’s been a while since I last posted, but I recently read "How to Train Your Dragon School: Doom of the Darkwing" and the short story "When the Windwalker Changed," and I’ve been wanting to talk about these with someone. So I’m hoping to find people here who are interested too!

The short story feels like a small glimpse into Hiccup’s future, and I honestly loved seeing what he’s been up to after the events of Book 12. One thing I found really interesting is how older Book Hiccup and Windwalker seem to physically resemble Movie Hiccup and Toothless . Older Book Hiccup lost his left leg and replaces it with a carved wooden-metal prosthetic and his new black firesuit, which makes him feel more heroic compared to his younger self. Our boy has really come a long way! I do wonder what actually happened to his leg though. Maybe he lost it fighting enemies of the Wilderwest or while rescuing dragons?

Another detail I found intriguing in the short story is the chess piece plot, specifically the king piece.

This idea continues in "How to Train Your Dragon School." In the first, and so far only, book, Camicazi finds a wooden object inside the Darkwing’s stomach from a shipwreck, which turns out to be a queen chess piece. If this chess theme continues, it makes me think the series might have five books: queen, bishop, rook, knight, and pawn. I am not including the king since it already appeared in the short story. Since this series seems to take place somewhere between Books 6 and 7, I am wondering if it might eventually lead into a time skip past Book 12, almost like an unofficial “Book 13.”

What really got me thinking is the Prophecy Dragon’s prediction that Camicazi will one day become Hiccup’s enemy, which Hiccup mostly laughed off. Could this a hint of what happened in Book 8, when Camicazi briefly turned on Hiccup after discovering his slavemark? Some people theorize that Hiccup and Camicazi might eventually marry but struggle with ruling the Wilderwest together. Others think their story could mirror Chinhilda and Grimbeard, especially since one of the series’ themes is that history repeats itself.

Personally, I do not think I could handle Hiccup and Camicazi becoming true enemies. They are too precious 😭

Grimbeard the Ghastly Theory time:

[WARNING: SPOILERS FOR BOOK 11 AND WHEN THE WINDWALKER CHANGED!]

Okay, so those reading will be aware how Grimbeard (or Speedfast as he called himself then) refused the Dragonmark and enslaved the dragons? How he never managed to click with Dragons (a headcanon I have supported by how it's mentioned of his son's connection with them in book 8)?

Here's my theory: During his childhood, he was given away as a political hostage?

For those unfamiliar with this kind of situation, here's the gist: Throughout history, many rulers have given their children away as hostages to different rulers. The children usually lived in comfort, but could be killed at any time if the Kid's parent's broke the deal they had with the Captor Rulers. But what's important to note here is that more often that not, *they were educated in the ways of their captors!*

Say for instance that Speedfast was sent to the WilderEast that *When the Windwalker Changed* takes place in. He lives there for years. His Captors drill it into his head that Dragons are inferior and worth as slaves. Then he grows up to be Grimbeard.

Of course, we don't really have much lore about the WilderEast Kingdom, and for all we know it could be that Grimbeard's policies and beliefs spread to the WilderEast or wherever else he might have been kept rather than the other way around.

Also to be clear on this I feel NO sympathy for that asshole. I'm just theorising.

In honor of valentines day some more Httyd ships reviewed 

Fem Hiccup x Camicazi: 7/10 Ok HEAR ME OUT. I don’t know why but w/w Hiccami makes more sense to me than straight Hiccami. I also think I would be so cute if Hiccup was trans Fem and Camicazi helped her figure it out and was just super supportive the full way through. 

Horrorcow x Toothless: 4/10. She feels like more of a mother than a lover. I don’t like this ship but I don’t see anything wrong if you do like it. 

Camicazi x Blondielocks: 8/10. I am the only one writing for this crossover couple, but if they met even if they didn’t date, they would at the very least be best friends. 

Grimbeard x Chinhilda: 2/10 for happy-couple ship. 10/10 for bitter divorced-couple ship. 

Furious x Luna = 4.5/10. Like Hiccazi I have nothing for or against it. I like Luna but it’s a bit boring since we don’t have too much information on her. 

Hiccup I x Wodensfang:  1/10. I am VERY pro write what you wanna write but sometimes the stuff on Ao3 SCARES me. 

Old Wrinkly x the witch: 7/10. HEAR ME OUT GUYS. I know it’s super toxic, but I feel like putting  these 2 in a jar like bugs and shaking it, like watching them love-hate each other could be so much fun. 

Strangulator x Alvin: 10/10. Alvin would. Freak.  

Stormfly x Fireworm: 6/10. They are both pretentious gays with an ego. It might work. 

Madguts x Gumboil: 9/10. WHAT DO YOU MEAN THEY AREN’T MARRIED???
