To Teach the Dead: Mark of the Maleficus releases in 4 days, February 27th, 2026! These characters live rent-free in my head, so I thought I'd spend the days leading up to launch day introducing you to a few. (It's the least they can do, lousy free-loaders.) Meet Vorago, the head of the Night Classes, and the titular Director inside the Board of Directors. Very few know the name behind the Latin pseudonym, and most everyone, including staff and students alike simply refer to him as The Director. Many whispered rumors abound surrounding this mysterious figure, including his alleged ability to see through Nevermore's eyes in order to keep a close eye on events taking place within his schools. It has also been said that if he gets angry, the temperature inside that room will plummet, and that he may also wield an uncanny ability to read your thoughts at a whim. Out of the trio who is the best cook of the three?

Angeal by a longshot. Genesis lacks the general patience and finesse for cooking and Sephiroth...well, Sephiroth is more apt to overcook or undercook, whichever he's feeling that day.

Angeal is an excellent cook, and often hosts a lengthy potluck every year for the younger recruits. His cooking is one of the few things Sephiroth will eat without exception. He was taught by his mother Gillian, and has many fond memories of working alongside her in the kitchen growing up.

Pretty sure I'm living in your ask box to harass you about Angeal at this point lol 😅 Anyways, What are the boys favourite things to beg Angeal to make whenever he's cooking and/or baking?

More than often, Angeal doesn't really need to ask what they want. He knows their tastes pretty well.

For Genesis, he likes to make bean buns and crepes. Or apple cider donuts (though he wishes they tasted like Banora Whites!). On Genesis' birthday, Angeal makes a big fuss and dumps a seven layer cake on him. Genesis is so smug he doesn't even think twice about eating it, calories be damned.

Sephiroth's favorite food is canonically pasta (legit), and Angeal is always aware of when Sephiroth has "lab days". Aka essentially torture with Hojo. So he always makes a dish of Sephiroth's favorite pastas and leaves it in a little Tupperware bowl outside of his door. Sephiroth self-isolates a lot and refuses to come out whenever he has these events, but at three AM or so, a shaky little hand reaches out to yoink the container every time.

Other than that, Angeal just cooks for them via trial and error. He enjoys seeing what they do and don't like. They're usually pretty receptive.

This is such a huge moment for Guts, I’m so proud of him.

that said I’m terrified of whats to come: Schierke and Farnese experiencing the eclipse through Casca’s eyes, the possible return of Farnese’s darker side, a possible attack on Elfhelm while the Flowerstorm King is busy with the rite, time passing slowly in Elfhelm might result in a short time skip for the rest of the world, Morda might do something terrible, Guts still has the behelit and it was said Puck’s return to Elfhelm would bring about “a raging tempest,” and since dreams exist on an astral plane does that mean Schierke and Farnese are in danger? Would the Godhand be able to sense them or something? Will healing Casca result in the loss of her memories or some shit? Will she still fear/hate Guts?
