Lightning McQueen hates grudge racing. He fucks with drag racing sure, but Grudge Racing? Nah. Fuck that. He believes it isn’t real racing, it’s a dishonour to your car and the art of racing. It’s unfair and not a true test of your racing abilities.
Chick Hicks is an avid grudge racer, and he challenges McQueen because he believes his staunch stance against it means that he isn’t good at it.
McQueen agrees, gives Chick the break and the back tire.
And he fucking smokes Chick anyways. Absolutely crushing defeat. There’s a gap, which is truly embarrassing for Chick in general during a drag race, but especially when he had two advantages given to him.
