Best Poké Ball Tournament-
Round 1: Match 6
Cherish Ball vs GS Ball
Cherish Ball
GS Ball
Well this match has some very unusual Balls! This could be interesting!
The Cherish Ball can never be used by a player, but if it could, it would function the same as a regular Poké Ball. Instead, when trainers receive an event Pokémon, they will arrive in a very distinct looking Cherish Ball! No eggs will hatch with a Cherish Ball, and none will ever be obtainable in a player's bag, making it one of the most elusive Balls around. The very first Pokémon to come in a Cherish Ball was Shokotan's Tropius, back in 2007. And, as a reference to this, Ace Trainer Deanna in BDSP keeps her Tropius in a Cherish Ball- the only NPC to be seen with such a Ball! How lucky for Deanna!
What could be more elusive than a Cherish Ball? Well, the GS Ball of course! A Ball that first appeared in the anime, this was an item that was distributed in a Japan-only event that allowed Pokémon Crystal players to encounter and catch Celebi. A western version of the event was planned but never released- though the virtual console release made the event obsolete worldwide as the GS Ball is obtained after entering the Hall of Fame. This is another Ball that can never be used to catch a Pokémon, instead being a Key Item unusable in battle. The player must take it to Kurt to analyse instead, before it is returned and remains in the Key Items pocket for eternity! Since it can never contain a player's Pokémon- the only Ball in the competition like this- it doesn't have any known catch rate multiplier. In many ways, the GS Ball is just as mysterious as it was back in the days of Generation 2.
