Firstly, I'm American 🇺🇸, and I'm proud of that. My cultural background is also Guatemalan because of my parents. I notice that a lot of children of Guatemalans, sons & daughters, are ashamed of saying that their parents are from Guatemala, so they rather say they're Mexican 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄. I think those who say such things aren't aware of Guatemalans contribution to the world through literature, music, technology, & even entrepreneurship. I'm not ashamed to say that my parents are Guatemalan 🇬🇹. To name ONLY but a few influential Guatemalans: 1. Luis von Ahn- pioneers of crowd sourcing. Founder of the company recaptcha, Co-founder & Ceo of #duolingo 2. Miguel Angel Asturias Rosales-"was a Nobel Prize-winning Guatemalan poet-diplomat, novelist, playwright and journalist. Asturias helped establish Latin American literature's contribution to mainstream Western culture..." 3. Yolanda de Cofiño~Inventor of the Happy Meal... You're welcomed world. 4. Ricardo Arjona-is a Guatemalan singer-songwriter/poet, Arjona is one of the most successful Latin American artists of all time, with more than 40 million albums sold. 5. Magic lens--Lens were invented by a society of young Guatemalan inventors to help those who are blind. They help recognize money so blind people have the ability to know how to manage their money. #culture #latinamerican #Guatemala #guatemalans #mcdonalds #happymeal #literature #music #knowledgeispower #magiclens #inventors #crowdfunding #recaptcha #ricardoarjona #chapinesporelmundo #chapines #chapinas #quetzal #duolingo #poet #writerslife #nobelliteratureprize #nobelprize
