He knew you and Mahiru were out together taking a stroll around the island and were planning to go for a swim
He should’ve been more aware about Peko and how she would react, he knew Peko would never hurt you, and he was lucky enough to make it in time to the small house
Mahiru was waiting outside for you as you went in to grab a water bottle from the small fridge, Peko thought it would be Mahiru who went in first but was able to stop just in time when Fuyuhiko’s ran all the way to the house and pull you towards him so Peko would miss
Peko apologized and made it clear that she wasn’t going to kill you and had Fuyuhiko’s help clear it up as well
Seeing how it could’ve been you instead of Mahiru who died, and by accident form Peko of all people, made him even be more worried about your wellbeing and had you close to him at all times even if it was just you going to the bathroom
Gundham Tanaka
He never had you stray too far away from him ever, he would always say that he would protect you from all evil with the help of his dark devas
You were never seen apart from each other even from when you both woke up on the island, especially since you two were dating for a while and even before the island
It was just a coincidence he saved you, Hiyoko sucked up and went to ask you for help on tying her kimono and you told her that you remembered there was a large mirror over at the live house and you told her you would gladly carry it over to her cabin so she can keep it
The only reason you didn’t was because Gundham had reminded you about a small dinner you were supposed to have later that day with him, Sonia and Hajime
So Hiyoko had to go alone and when it turns out that her going there alone, like you were going to, was how she ended up getting killed, Gundham was shocked
He didn’t even want to think about what would’ve happened if you had went instead. He has since then pledged to go everywhere with you so you wouldn’t be alone and to calm his nerves
Hajime Hinata
Hes been on edge since he woke up on the island and even more worried when he saw you were unfortunately here as well on this hell island
Everything was going smoothly, there had been no murders so far and the little party they were having had been going well as everyone was having a great time talking and eating
You on the other hand, had been worried especially since you thought it was such a coincidence that only one pick had gone missing but Byakuya’s and Hajime brushed it off and Hajime comforted you with saying that nobody will kill someone in broad daylight and it probably just went missing
You weren’t believing it and when the lights went out, you noticed a small liquid neon dots that were leading under a table and crouched down to lift up the cover when Hajime who was next to you before the lights went out, accidentally tripped and you had both fallen on top of each other
And it was thanks to him tripping over you that you hadn’t died and crawled under the table
He’s since then taken this island more serious especially since you’re hear with him

if this is normal school mode, it's chiaki who ends up convincing him to confess. she tells him that you talk about him a lot and she's certain that you like him back.

but he decides to grit his teeth and just do it.
he spends the day before gathering up stuff for you; he buys flowers in your favourite colour, boxes up your favourite dessert and even writes a short note on how he feels in case he loses his nerve to do it in person.
when the time comes for him to actually confess, though, he's so flustered he can barely get the words out. you can probably get the gist because he's scarlet in the face clutching flowers and a cute pastry, so please just. take pity on him and interrupt him. he will thank you for it.
so relieved that you reciprocate that his knees actually give out. he's horribly embarrassed about it but you wave it off. when he's calmed down and accepted the reality, he gets the gentlest, most carefree smile you've ever seen on him. it's actually quite lovely.
"you really mean it? you... feel the same? oh, shit, jesus, thank god. i was so nervous... what do you mean you could tell?!"

okay. this is a tricky one.
i know it's a popular opinion that, because of how much nagito loathes himself, he would never confess to the object of his attraction. i don't necessarily subscribe to this idea, because he does confess to hajime in the game (albeit in a roundabout way).
my thoughts are that nagito tries to keep it to himself.
he really, really does. he tries his hardest to convince everybody, including you, including even himself, that he has no favouritism for you. that you're another spectacular ultimate, but that's it.
vehemently denies having further feelings for you than that, though he's asked often if that's the case.
he doesn't want to make you uncomfortable, and he thinks that you knowing that he does have a crush on you can only make you uncomfortable. he cannot fathom the idea that you might even like him back. it literally never even crosses his mind.
so he bottles it up. and no matter how much it pains him to see you get along with other people, other ultimates, other people worthy of hope, he keeps to himself. he offers a soft, encouraging smile and nothing else.
until it becomes too much.
i think he'd wait until he knew it would be the last time you'd see each other for a while. perhaps right before you went on summer break, or even the last day of school. he asks you to wait until you are alone, until everybody else has gone.
and he tells you, with tears shining in his eyes and an urgent flush on his pale cheeks, that you are the most magnificent person he's ever known. that your hope exceeds every bound he placed upon you, that you ever bothered to associate with trash like him was far more than he deserved. he doesn't let you speak until he's finished.
he tells you he loves you as though he's signing his death warrant.
when you tell him that you love him too, he's shellshocked. he thinks you must be lying, or that you must pity him. unless you're willing to stand there for hours convincing him, he's going to leave thinking you were just trying not to hurt his feelings.
if he does finally come around to realising that you're sincere, it might just break him. he'll fall to his knees, finally letting himself sob, wondering what he ever, ever did to deserve this. if not, he'll leave you with an encouraging, bittersweet smile, and assure you that you have nothing to feel guilty about.
that you ever even talked to him, is more than enough for him.

honestly halfway through the evening it becomes pretty transparent what it's all about. the fancy food, the permanent lovesick pink blush on his adorable lil face, the way peko came up to you the other day and asked bluntly, "if someone were to take you for a romantic evening, what would be your ideal setting for it?" before walking over to fuyuhiko the second she had her answer.

so when it all winds to an end, he asks if everything was okay. and then he's like... "so. you uh. probably figured out what this is all about, right?"
have pity on him and say yes. if he tries to explain to you that this is a date he WILL malfunction.

Random Yandere Headcanons: Danganronpa V2 with an affectionate darling
Hajime Hinata:
Any affection he gets makes him feel warm and fuzzy inside. He does try to return any affection that is given to him. Having an affectionate darling will make him more attached to them.
Izuru Kamukura:
He doesn't really feel one way or the other about it. Although when his darling does show affection to him there's this odd familiar feeling that he gets. He's not too sure what it is but he knows that he doesn't want it to go away.
Nagito Komaeda:
A bit conflicted about having such a sweet darling. On one hand he loves Every second of it but on the other hand he doesn't think they should be that loving to him. Although he never tells them to stop what they are doing, he does sometimes falls into old habits of saying that he doesn't deserve all this love. (That and the fact that he knows they would hate him if they know just some of the things he had done.
Gundham Tanaka:
Adorable them even more and (if even possible.) Falls even deeper in love. Having an affectionate darling may actually calm down his yandere ways but it will also make some parts stronger. Like his possessive side and protective side, it may also led to him kidnapping a lot sooner.
Kazuichi Soda:
An affectionate darling is the perfect darling for kazuichi. In return for all the love his darling shows him he will return it tenfold and become even more clingy. He will also become more determined not to let them leave him.
Teruteru Hanamura:
His yandere side does calm down quite a bit with an affectionate darling. Although just like some of the others, some other parts start to show more. Like being possessive and wanting his darling's attention on him.
Nekomaru Nidai:
Having such a sweet darlings feeds into his delusion making everything even more normal to him. He does become jealous if his darling is showing any type of affection to anyone else, friendly or not. He also becomes much more possessive over this type of darling.
Fuyuhiko Kuzuryu:
It's a weird mix of seeming like he hates it and taking pride in it. This shows that he has won their heart (even if they meant things in a friendly manner.) The only reason why he seems like he hates it is because of the front he has to put up but in true he melts any time they show him some love.
Byakuya Twogami/ Ultimate Imposter:
They melt Every time their darling shows them any amount of affection. They do return it in full feeling like they truly win their darling over. All in all, they are happy that their darling doesn't hate them.
Akane Owari:
She became so soft and mushy when her darling gave her any type of affection. She will not only return it tenfold but become even clinger then she already was. However, she will also start to want more each time. (More kisses, sweet words etc.)
Chiaki Nanami:
Soft, everything comes so soft between Chiaki and her darling. It's almost like they are in a normal relationship. All in all, out of all of the others she is the one that will make things seem more normal.
Sonia Nevermind:
She adores her darling and the fact that they are willingly giving her love just makes things much easier. She loves it if they were to show affection in public so people can see that they are together. An affection also reinforces her delusions which depending on her darling's next move could make things more…dicey.
Hiyoko Saionji:
She tries so hard to act like she hates any affection her darling gives her but in truth she wants nothing more than her darling being sweet to her.
Ibuki Mioda:
Ibuki and her daring just become a mess of lovey doveyness. Both look like just another clingy and mushy couple. Although if someone says something negative about it then they won't be there the next day.
Mahiru Koizumi:
It's the perfect darling for her and it makes things much easier. Like someone of others she will become much more possessive of this type of darling but they also calm down her yandere side. So, all in all it's a win win for everyone.
Mikan Tsumiki:
It's most likely why she is a yandere for them in the first place. Any time her darling shows her affection she's in heaven. There's also a greater chance of her kidnapping this type of darling.
Peko Pekoyama:
She will return her darling’s affection as best she can although it usually just ends up with her doing something for them. Like getting rid of people who she believes will harm them or just stay even closer to them then she already does.

GIANT GUNDHAM X TINY KAZUICHI HEADCANONS
- Gundham loves Kazuichi, he really does, but sometimes Souda makes being big really difficult. Tanaka is overly cautious with his boyfriend, especially because of his size and how often he tends to get himself in trouble.
- He freaks out whenever he can't find Kazuichi, and gets upset when he finds Souda somewhere obvious like in one of his coat pockets or his scarf. He always gives the other stern lectures about how it's dangerous to sleep in places like that without letting him know beforehand.
- Since he handles small animals quite frequently, he always makes it a point to use some of his techniques on Kazuichi. He finds that Souda calms down quickly whenever he pets his back in circular motions or let's him sit in his scarf against his neck when he gets overwhelmed.
- He has a problem with picking Kaz up without asking, usually by the back of his shirt or pinching his waist between his thumb and forefinger and picking him up that way. Kazuichi always has a little freak out moment before realizing that it's only Tanaka and there's no REAL reason to be afraid, but it's still a bit offputting.
- Kazuichi gets his own little spot on the bed, on Gundham's pillow and under his hand. Tanaka doesn't move in his sleep, which means sometimes if he's able to convince Gundham to let him, Kazuichi gets to sleep on his chest!!
- Kazuichi gets along great with the devas!! sometimes they even cuddle up on him when they're in Gundham's scarf and they'll stay there forever, even falling asleep at times.
- Kazuichi isn't allowed to climb things or climb off things due to Gundham's anxiety, it makes him cringe just thinking about Souda get hurt, and honestly it's just not a risk Gundham is willing to take when it comes to his little boyfriend.

♡ He was in the class next door to yours and you didn’t really know much about him. Sure you knew each other's names, but to him, you were just some cute person who he happened to share the same school with, and to you, he was just some guy with a unique fashion sense.
♡ Class had hardly started and your teacher was only taking roll call. You were sitting next to Toko, since she was the only person not freaked out by the iguana that sat in your lap.

Originally, he liked snakes the most, ball pythons being his favorite because of how affectionate they can be but after looking more into different species he absolutely fell in love with leopard geckos!! They’re so cute and smiley to him! (Sorry I just really like ball pythons and leopard geckos hehehe!!)
♡ Gundham’s also happy to teach you about mammals and learn all about your favorite reptiles. When you got together, he started carrying around animals that he knew made you happy, just as long as they wouldn't hurt his four dark devas.

kazuichi stood slightly behind you, so he could stare at you without you noticing, but it didn't matter because you could feel his eyes burning into the back of your head
it made you smile, knowing what you were about to do
as the countdown reached to ten seconds, you turned to kaz and tucked a strand of his hair behind his ear, then grabbed him by the waist
a gasp parted his lips as his eyes bored into yours, which you took to your advantage as the countdown reached zero, and kissed him feverishly as the ball dropped
he smiled into the kiss, giddy as a child in disney world, and took your hand
he laced your fingers together, and pulled you in so you were flush against each other

when you finally pulled away, you gave him a peck on the cheek, which he responded to by yanking down his beanie to hide his eyes

as the countdown hit ten seconds, the sharp cold had gotten to him
"listen y/n, the devas are getting cold, and it is past their bedtimes. we need to get to shelter before they unleash their demon wrath upon this-"
the countdown hit zero, and you leaned in to plant your lips on gundham's, effectively shutting him up, and confusing the hell out of him
at first, he stiffened, but eventually melted into your kiss and rested his hands on your arms
a blush rose on his cheeks as you reached up to nestle your fingers in his hair
the devas hid in his scarf, blushing as well
when you pulled away, he was speechless for the very first time

his eyes flew open, but as reality set in, he gently closed them, and snaked his arm around your waist to dip you ever so slightly

Before they get together Kaz is so confused at the angry look on s/o’s face when he flirts with Sonia.
When he finally gets the rejection from Sonia he probably should have expected and gets over it after some time…he talks with hajime about s/o’s weird behavior and hajime looks at him like he’s an idiot
After he soon realizes he feels the same and loves the attention and affection…
However he doesn’t like how scared they are that he will find someone else…
So he reassures his s/o at every point that he’s only there’s
Mikan
Bless this girl she would be so confused…
She isn’t really used to flirting or compliments so she’s so confused as to why someone’s complimenting her so much… only her s/o does that… and even then she’s confused on how her so likes her so much
And when her s/o clings to her arm when she hears the other persons compliments she’s beyond confused she’s bewildered
Honestly Mikan wouldn’t mind a jealous s/o to much. She never felt wanted so someone who wants her that badly makes her feel… special
It’s a nice feeling for her… s/o she wouldn’t mind…
Although if it gets in the way of the few friendships she has, she will put a stop to it!
She already has few friends so nobody puts a stop to that not even her s/o… although if it makes them feel more safe she’ll take them with her a lot more (in fact that’s advice for any jealous people out there let them be with friends! That and communicate your fears!)

Being a princess Sonia is kinda used to attention so she doesn’t find it overbearing
If anything she thinks it’s a great quality! She finds them protective and sweet. After all her s/o loves them so much and wants to keep her!
However if it interferes with her duty as a princess she would sit down with them and have an important discussion…
She would reassure them she loves them and she will always love them… and that they have nothing to worry about…

She doesn’t quite know how to react all her life she’s been the one giving attention to Fuyuhiko
So having someone as devoted to her as she is to Fuyuhiko is surprising…
But overall she loves the attention and would hold them close
