HTTYD modern AU but they are all like 10.

And the ofc the older kids.

The kids are all 9-10

Eret’s like 16-17

Heather is 13-14

Dagur is 17-18

Hiccup and Snotlout are cousins, Dagur and Heather have been friends with Eret since childhood. Dagur has soma major beef with the kids but especially Hiccup didn’t decide why yet.

The twins have very chill but also kinda neglectful parents. Spitelout is either divorced or his wife is dead. Astrid’s parents are super strict and have very high expectations. Fishlegs either doesn’t have a dad or has a bad relationship with him. Valka disappeared in some accident and is presumed dead.

Hiccup and Snotlout have a lot of sleepovers. The scar on Dagur’s face is Toothless’s handy work. The kids have been friends since they were 5. The kids race on their bikes with their pets and call it “Dragon Racing”. They have this treehouse/meeting place called “Dragon’s Edge”. Gustav is some annoying 6 year old trying to tag along.

The twins either have snakes or geckos. Snotlout has some species of a lizard. Astrid has a parrot. Fishlegs has a pug and Hiccup has a black cat with huge green eyes.

I might add the rest of the characters probably as adults.

Can we all take a moment to truly appreciate how much of a little gremlin Gustav is? Like look at this little creature:

He literally trained a monstrous nightmare just to be like Snotlout.

call me controversial but i fancy myself a gustav defender. if the riders had just taken the time to train gustav early on, he wouldn't have ended up so annoying. He'd be better in battle, and he'd have quite a strong bond with his dragon! I know he was a little too young in Riders of Berk but that was really the perfect time to get started with his training. maybe he wouldn't be constantly acting out looking for the riders' approval if they'd treated him like the passionate learner he was at the time. and they're no better in rtte honestly. Gustav was 16 when he was reintroduced in that show. Hiccup and the other riders were all younger than that when they had their start, but they still considered Gustav too young and immature—which, again, could have been avoided if they'd just trained him in the first place.

I just realized something

In Gone Gustav Gone Hiccup says Gustav is 16, in your ref for Minicup in the Edge era he's around 13. Imagine Gustav being salty that someone younger than him can be a dragon rider but he can't (nevermind that Minicup speaks dragonese and has the Ticking Thing amongst other stuff lol)

Gustav's hero worship for Snotlout absolutely extends to Snotlout's sister 😂 and he's absolutely got a crush on her

Gustav doesn't actually hold any real ill will toward Minicup— in fact he's rather neutral on Minicup as a person— but he definitely can't deny it stings a bit that Minicup gets more respect than he does 💀 he's younger and tinier than him, that's just embarrassing

At least it helps him and Adelaide bond 😂
