Based on a conversation my friend and I had but clearly changed to fit the characters.

Hiccup: So you just ignored me because…

Tuffnut: Chicken needed her mani pedi.

Hiccup: Snotlout broke his leg!

Ruffnut: Sounds like a him problem.

Hiccup: You know my expectations for you two were on the ground and you brought a shovel.

Tuffnut: What can we say we like dirt.

Ruffnut: Want a mudpie?

Hiccup: Not from you two.

So as a woman who owns many chickens, it was just bugging me trying to figure out what breed of chicken Tuffnut’s Chicken was. So, I did some research.

At first I thought she was a golden sexlink, because that was the first thing that came to my mind.

Because here’s the chicken species in question

But I just wasn’t fully satisfied, so I did a bit more digging and looked up speckled chickens, where then I came across the Speckled Sussex. It looked so much more like her, being speckled like our favorite Thorston chicken.

Like just look at it

It’s glorious.

But.

I still wasn’t satisfied, since while they had the speckles, they didn’t have the color fully, or the attitude that Chicken has.

Yet a breed that does have attitude is the golden sexlink.

So I came to another conclusion.

What if Chicken is a hybrid of both?

Like just look at her

She has the speckles, she has the colors, and she has the attitude. Plus, her being a hybrid of these two chickens would make more sense to why it was so hard for Gobber and Stoick to replace her in that one episode, because she is a hybrid, she isn’t one or the other, she’s both.

And I even have proof that hybrids of the weirdest chicken species can happen.

Here’s my girl Droplet, who is half white Leghorn, and half Americana.

She’s a strange mix of both those chickens, including laying green eggs, so having our favorite Chicken be a hybrid is more likely than you’d think.

In conclusion.

I wasted a lot of time on a silly chicken.

HTTYD modern AU but they are all like 10.

And the ofc the older kids.

The kids are all 9-10

Eret’s like 16-17

Heather is 13-14

Dagur is 17-18

Hiccup and Snotlout are cousins, Dagur and Heather have been friends with Eret since childhood. Dagur has soma major beef with the kids but especially Hiccup didn’t decide why yet.

The twins have very chill but also kinda neglectful parents. Spitelout is either divorced or his wife is dead. Astrid’s parents are super strict and have very high expectations. Fishlegs either doesn’t have a dad or has a bad relationship with him. Valka disappeared in some accident and is presumed dead.

Hiccup and Snotlout have a lot of sleepovers. The scar on Dagur’s face is Toothless’s handy work. The kids have been friends since they were 5. The kids race on their bikes with their pets and call it “Dragon Racing”. They have this treehouse/meeting place called “Dragon’s Edge”. Gustav is some annoying 6 year old trying to tag along.

The twins either have snakes or geckos. Snotlout has some species of a lizard. Astrid has a parrot. Fishlegs has a pug and Hiccup has a black cat with huge green eyes.

I might add the rest of the characters probably as adults.
