Becca's POV
"Helene!"
I bolt upwards, my heart racing with a pace of a hummingbird's and the temperature of an erupting volcano.
It burns.
The seconds that tick by, I become more aware of my surroundings.
Outside, the skies provide nothing but darkness, rain pelting gently across glass.
I shift blearily to grasp at Helene's side of the bed, panicking when I pat down nothing but coldness.
"No..." I whimper softly, facing the empty sheets.
I feel tears prick beneath my eyes. "Please..."
Then my breaths start to come wild and untamed.
'I can't breathe, I can't--'
I curl up, silent shudders running through my frame as I count one to ten, breathing in and out.
'I haven't had a panic attack this severe since Senior Year.' I think, as a tingle of pain accompanies the pressure of my nails digging on my arms.
'It's not working!' I shout in my head, spots of kaleidoscopic colors swimming in my vision.
Everything rushes by.
Your distance, and dimming smiles. The period of blankness in your brown eyes after the mock trial, then at Northbridge's Barrister's Ball. Sneaking peeks at California and Howg University, while you hunch over, concentrated in writing that play. The fight. The soft click of the door and the last flash of your blond curls as you left. The coldness of the appartment with you halfway across the ocean. The lingering scent of vanilla and strawberries left in MY hoodie.
Fuck.
The door opens but I'm too lost to notice until gentle hands take hold of me by my side, wrapping me in a tight embrace.
"Shh Becca, it was just a nightmare..." A soft voice whispers.
'That Voice--!'
"H-Helene?"
"Yes Becs, it's me. I've got you. I've got you."
"H-help. Can't--"
"You can do it Becs, breathe with me. In. Out."
It's a few more minutes until I get a hold of myself to speak more properly, and outside the rain tills down to nothing.
"Are you better now babe?" Helene ask quietly, and I just honestly want to sink against you, baby. I settle for laying against her chest, my ears trained to your heartbeat that's lulling me to calmness.
"T-thought I'd lost you." I rasp out, wincing inwardly over the sound.
"Because of London? or the dream?" Your voice is calm, but underneath my ear your heart beats faster, and I can't help but hold you tighter.
"No... I think it's way back... since the trio, and that old fucking clubhouse."
"Becs--"
"I don't want anything like that again. You keep leaving and..."
"I'm sorry..."
"I know... But I get so fucking worried Lee, that one day you get in the middle of something and you can't go back."
"..."
"Your heart is so big and beautiful and even though you can also be a sassy bitch at times I'm... don't leave me again. Please."
"I- I'm not. Not again Becs."
I sniffle. "Then promise me."
"What promise do you need?"
"Promise you won't leave like that again."
A thin sliver of moonlight finally shines through the thick clouds of the night, illuminating the room with a small dull glow.
I stare at your eyes, your brown irises slightly reflecting the light, and we're both searching each other.
Then you blink, and finally open your mouth.
"I promise."
"I--"
"I'm not leaving anymore Rebecca Davenport, not like Junior year, nor like this Senior year. You're stuck with me now."
"Good. It's all I ask."
"Really?"
"Really. Now kiss me." I say, my heart stages lighter, the cold terror gripping it fading.
And Helene does as what she can do best.

3rd POV
Eventually Becca's breaths even out over the course of your activities, snuggling contently as she begins to fall asleep, with the woman who cradles her heart in her hands.
"I love you Becca Davenport. So much. I wouldn't mind spending an eternity by your side, as long as you want." Helene whispers quietly to the crown of Becca's golden hair, confident that the older blond is tucked in the lands of Morpheus.
She settles in with the gentle heat of the woman who holds her heart warming her up, chasing away the last of the cold shadows of doubt and fear lingering in her heart.
"And I love you, Helene Adler." Becca whispers back, eyes closed and face serene, and the other girl sneaks a quick peck before falling asleep.
'With everything that I am.'

Loving you is easy, but Staying with you with the universe against us? That's the test.
But I refuse to fail, my love.
Stand with me and keep me by your side; I will weather through everything.
For you.
For us.
That's a promise.
