I wish there was a way to know you’re in the good old days, before you’ve actually left them.
🏴 Scotland! ;)
Hahaha hey Kiera! Hope Cali’s treating you well ♡
Scotland: Do you prefer summer or winter?
Since I live in Australia and our summers are like hellfire, I much prefer winter! I love the cold, and it’s much easier to deal with for me than heat. And besides that, usually, Australian winters are mostly mild so it’s not too bad.
Thank you, lovely! :)
put a european country in my ask box!
seriously, girl, when you're not making me emotional with your fics you're making me emotional with your tags on my gifsets 😂 i love it, though, so thank you, lol
YOUR GIFSETS GIVE ME FEELS, MY FRIEND!! I can’t help it!!! <3
So you keep making those gifsets, I’m going to keep writing tags and fic.
DEAL?
i just wanted to let you know that the longer i study OH the more i realize i only know some things from following you 😂 my last lecture covered Laura and Gone with the Wind and Stage Door and i was like, hey, i know stuff about those bc of Nessa! We also watched Dance Girl Dance? Idk if you've seen it but it had Lucille Ball being brilliant and it was the first sound film directed by a woman? I thought it might be your jam lol
Omggg!!!!! I’m smiling so hard rn loool I really hope you’re enjoying studying some of OH! :D
Laura!!!!!!! One of my all-time favourites, and my ultimate fave’s signature role :’) A brilliant movie, and the twist creates some interesting discussion. Stage Door is such a fantastic movie, too, and so so important and I love it a lot and was actually thinking earlier today of rewatching it soon!! Kate Hepburn and Ginger Rogers are just... <3333 And baby Lucille before all the success and fame :’) lol AND GONE WITH THE WIND AAAAAHH A WELL-KNOWN CLASSIC!! Truly an epic. Vivien Leigh was absolutely divine!! <3 I hope you enjoyed all three of those omg all of them are favourites of mine!
And oooh, no, I haven’t seen that yet!! I’m planning on getting into Lucille Ball’s films really soon though so maybe I will start with that one!! I’m currently watching I Love Lucy, and I adooore Lucille haha what a brilliant woman.
I really hope you’re enjoying all the films you’re watching in this class of yours! I’ve found OH films bring me a joy unlike any other era tbh. They’re wonderful little (or ginormous - GWTW!!!!!!!!) gems and I find so much of the BTS stuff so fascinating. Not to mention how they’ve revived my love of film! I’m even thinking of pursuing a Film Studies course in a couple of years hahaha If you’re ever after any recs, pls do send me a message. I’d be more than happy to share some of the films I’ve practically devoured in the last few months that I’ve dived down the OH rabbit-hole loool
i meant to say, i watched Gilda yesterday! i really liked it!! i was a little wary because we were watching it with relation to the male gaze so i wasn't sure if it was gonna be weirdly objectifying or something, but i was really pleasantly surprised. my class all loved how much agency she had & sarcastic she was lmao, her spontaneous compliments line was hilarious 😂 And you were so right, Rita Hayworth was a dang goddess in it. Also, I've been singing Put The Blame On Mame since yesterday lmao
Omg yay I’m so glad you enjoyed it!! It’s such a great film. :) Just talking about it now, I’m itching to rewatch it so it’s a good thing I just bought it on Bluray lol
And yes, I see what you mean with regards to the male gaze, especially watching films from back in the day. I feel like Vertigo (1958) would be an even better movie for that topic tbh. That movie is genuinely horrifying in that respect and I’d most certainly recommend it if you’ve caught the film bug hahaha it’s my absolute fav despite how twisted and unnerving it is but it’s a masterpiece in every cinematic respect.
But yesss, I loved how sassy Gilda could be, clever and funny and independent, especially in her time. She definitely held her own. There are so many layers to her, too, she’s just such an interesting character. The movie on the whole is just fascinating as well. I love it so. And Rita Hayworth was just magnificent (ok but like... you gotta see her dance!! She was brilliant - aaand now I wanna rewatch Cover Girl and her films with Fred Astaire ~sigh lmao). She's become one of my all-time favourite (Old Hollywood) actresses :’) And lmaoooo you’re like me omg!! I watched Gilda for the first time a few weeks ago and I’ve had Put The Blame On Mame stuck in my head since! I was literally singing it just earlier while doing some chores loooool

Yaaasss come to Scotland!!! We do get some nice days in summer but mostly it’s just mild, except rn when it’s freezing temperatures already lmao. I do miss it dearly though, it’s so beautiful here but I love autumn so much and I’m not getting to see it here. I’ve find a few trees with a piles of leaves under them and it’s such a rare sight I’ve immediately turned into a kid and jumped in the pile to crunch ‘em all 😂
Omg I’ve wanted to live in Scotland, or at least visit, for the looongest time! It’s so gorgeous and the climate is just perfect for me 😂 I enjoy mild summers, can’t stand the blazing heat that comes with Australian ones at all :( It’s icky ajhfkjfs Aww, I can imagine how jarring it would be going from somewhere like Scotland to California. I had a similar experience living in the northern hemisphere and then moving to the southern so like... all the seasons got flipped on their heads 😂😂 But aaaah, do try to enjoy it!! I hope you have loads of fun. 💖

Aw, Cali's good thanks! I'm feeling like I'm gonna enjoy the winter here, too-- it's so hot, all the time. The evenings are cooler and it's sweet sweet relief. Also, I love that the Scotland question was about summer and winter when we... barely have a summer in Scotland 😂😂😂
I’m glad you’re having a good time! I’ve been seeing your posts on Twitter 😂 I’m almost jealous ajsfkgjaklf omg yes, I imagine their winters are close-ish to our winters here, probably just a bit colder, idk. I hope you enjoy that experience! haha And aaaah stop, you’re just making my desire to move to Scotland that much more potent! 😂 Honestly, would be a dream!
