"Internet Explorin'" (2011)
The world wide Webb has made it possible to see literally anything in a matter of half-seconds. Never much of a traveler, Hadge has taken to the internet like a bull to honey, and now doesn't feel much of a need to spend money on illegal passports. Written for the Rescigno's Fall 2011 show and featuring female backing vocals, "Internet Explorin'" was tweaked slightly for it's master recording. Derived from a hypnotic African beat and a tasty riff, Hadge here explores just how far a metaphor can be driven into the ground.
TRACK NOTES:
Those are actual kookaburra mating calls.
Song is intended to be sung while wearing a pith hat and binoculars.
"Dayum Sarah Palin, You Fine" (2008)
Let's discuss something super dated. Sarah Palin is certainly still the news, being our future president and all, but right when she burst upon the scene, I got a wave of songwriter-y inspiration. I needed to sing about her and (jump on this bandwagon) express myself! Indeed, this song was written within the first week McCain announced her as his running mate, and thus provides a very interesting time capsule. No references to Russia, no "you betchas" and certainly nothing about Greg Rice. We were so young then, but me more than you guys.
It got outdated really fast though, so since posting it on the 'Tube, I haven't performed it or acknowledged it's existence. To prove this, I'm not even rerecording it. This is me in 2008, still innocent and non-shaven. As a song, I do like it though. Probably should have saved the melody for something a little more evergreen. Why do I always regret stuff?
