just mentioning zirconiums canon backstory
uhhh around the formation of the first zircon crystals (probably before quartz sand), Zr and Hf want to the beach for some milkshakes. Zr got some sand in xeir's, and then Hf locked them in The Cube Without Decription for like a while before Hf just forgot xe were in there
not sure if that's what you mean by "around the formation of the first zircon crystals" but i like this mental image of them going for shakes in the early Hadean
I saw on the wiki that Hafnium dresses up as milk for halloween and I knew what needed to be done
this art is so terrible but i love it
also I hope people know what this is a reference to
Using individual atoms to achieve fossil-free chemistry
Every chemical reaction faces a barrier: For substances to react with one another, it is first necessary to supply energy. In many cases, this energy barrier is low—such as when striking a match. For many key reactions in industry, however, it is much larger—and increased energy requirements drive up production costs. To lower this barrier, chemists use "reaction helpers" known as catalysts. The best of these substances contain metals—including, in some cases, rare metals. Now, chemists from ETH Zurich have achieved a breakthrough in catalysis research. The paper is published in the journal Nature Nanotechnology. The Swiss army knife of green chemistry "Methanol is a universal precursor for the production of a wide range of chemicals and materials, such as plastics—the Swiss army knife of chemistry, so to speak," says Javier Pérez-Ramírez, Professor of Catalysis Engineering at ETH Zurich. The liquid therefore plays a vital role in the transition to sustainable and fossil-free production of chemical products and fuels.

Hey Euro, I want your opinion for the future Cattos to bring for the IB mock exams:
Which Cattos fit best the following school subjects?
Literature
French (obviously Francium)
Economy (Nickel?)
Physics (Copper?)
Mathematics
Digital Society
Thank you in advance, I'll disappear from 8:30 AM to 2 PM of today during these exams.
A little late to answer, apologies for that... your exams have probably already come and gone... In my opinion, for literature, you of course want someone with a good knowledge of language, writing, and media. I reckon your best shot would either be Osmium, because he's a writer, or Iridium, if you can find her. She's the one who taught Os' to write. French, of course that's going to be Francium, no contest there. However, she only speaks French, which might be an issue... if you need someone who can speak both English and French, you probably want either Hoshi (Euro-151) or 152. They're both super multi-lingual. Either that or Nobelium, but he's quite grumpy so he might not be the best choice. Economy, you could go with Nickel, but I'd recommend Hafnium. They work as a banker in their spare time, so I'm sure they'd know all the ins and outs of it. Physics... you could probably choose any of the synthetics for that. Although, depending on the branch of physics, the choice would probably vary. Maths, again you'd probably want someone good with numbers, such as Hafnium, or maybe Silicon? Although, probably the best catto with numbers would be either Iron, because he's always busy running the hotel, or maybe Cobalt? I heard he plays a lot of DnD, and that involves a lot of numbers. Digital Society, I'm not quite sure what that would entail, but any catto versed in tech would probably be good, so you have quite a choice - Lithium, Silicon, Tantalum, or, hey... maybe even me! Who knows. I certainly don't. Anyways, I hope your exams went well, friend.
WE ARE SO BACK!
Hafnium, my dear sweet Hafnium
Would Hafnium pay Child Support?
Yes
No
Hafnium behaves almost identically to zirconium in chemical reactions. Where there's naturally-occurring zirconium, there's likely to be hafnium.
