thoughts on planning perfect by haley neil
planning perfect is about an aspec teenager who plans her moms wedding at her online bffs apple orchard
kills me to say this, but despite the ace and sapphic rep, this was not a good book for me
while its a quick read and the ace rep is accurate (but a little ace 101 as they usually are) the writing just drags it down
there is no nuance or subtlety and all of the character growth you can see a mile off
the author makes a point of showing how the boundaries in felicity's life were horribly drawn which didnt feel concluded for me, just toxic
i kept resisting the urge to yell at the book where people did things that didn't line up with their motivations and character
the confrontation scenes and the apology scenes were lacking
i feel like this is a criticism i have a lot but it needed more rounds of editing.
i also wanted to like it because of the jewish rep and anxiety rep but good rep cant save you if the rest of the book is bad
i really could see the potential of the book which is probably why i was so mad about it
conclusion: i dont recommend it and i wont be reading anymore of her books in the near future
