Steddie BB fic - Half-Truth
Guess who finished their Steddie big bang fic? (me! the answer is me!) Can't wait for my super supportive beta Lox (loxandknots on Bsky) and my amazing artist @keydoods to read it!
I watched 真相半白/Half Truth so you don't have to!
I meant to make this post a couple of weeks ago but better late than never.
To the 3 other Ji Chen weirdos on here, I recently watched his new show 真相半白/Half Truth based on the 死亡通知单/Death Notice books. The show follows Luo Fei and his apprentice Mu Jianyun as they solve a case in which the victims severed fingers are sent to his wife.
It's also basically just an account of Ji Chen's character having the absolute worst time of it at literally any given moment (🎉).
I personally really love crime thrillers so this was entirely up my street (exculding one thing that gave me a really bad time, which we'll get to), so if you're a fan of that sort of thing I'd give it a go, but VERY MUCH MIND THE WARNINGS FIRST (see below), I would absolutely not recommend going into this entirely blind like I did.
I honestly didn't really care about the police characters but the mystery REALLY got me, and both Li Junsong (Ji Chen) and ESPECIALLY his wife Meng Shengnan (Cao Xiwen) are really compelling characters.
Cao Xiwen MADE this show and she deserves all the flowers for it.
All of that being said general warnings are as follows so if you don't vibe with any of these I probably wouldn't recommend the show:
Offscreen animal death with visceral follow up (one off, really fucked me up, but skippable)
Medical setting/surgery/medical malpractice/organ trafficking/medical gore/terminal illness (throughout)
Violent murder/dismemberment/gore (frequent)
Graphic medical experimentation and surgery on animals (frequent)
Child abuse/violence and threat towards children (throughout),
Threat of rape and off screen (presumed) rape with on screen build up (frequent, mostly just one incident but with repeated flashbacks to it)
Suicide and attempted suicide (frequent)
Detailed timestamps for specific incidences of all of these except the violence and medical stuff because they're a core part of the show so it's impossible to warn for them and leave you with anything to watch.
btw my yaoi appreciation was passed down to me from my MOTHER and FATHER GENETICALLY I am clearly not at fault for drawing gay boys smoking together and I will continue
"A finished truth is dead. There is no chance of development, so the best thing is half a truth or just doubt. In that case, you are sure that whatever you know is in a state of transformation, and only a thing that changes is alive. A living truth changes. If it is static, if it doesn't change, it is dead." — C.G. Jung
“frequently hungover”… ok
Hello, Anon:
This was undoubtedly written prior to Armie seeking treatment last year.
You’ve omitted a key element out of that thought, though. The entire sentence is:
“Pushes through all of his work obligations despite being frequently hungover.”
Some people will purposefully contort or omit parts of a sentence, in order to corrupt someone else’s intrinsic thought with their own personal biases, in order to push their own specific narrative.
In the name of fairness, let’s kindly please assess this person’s sentiment about Armie Hammer using all the words they used to convey it, as it was written.
“…despite being frequently hungover.”
While not the most flattering depiction, this sentence adds plausibility to this anonymous DeuxMoi tip that it’s true, as it aligns with Armie’s treatment and recovery. He’s in recovery now. Let’s not overlook that fact.
More importantly, however, that sentence, in its entirety, drives home the point that Armie Hammer is unfailingly conscientious, responsible, and diligent in fulfilling his obligations to others, even under less than ideal personal circumstances.
He shows up. He does the work. He is charming, polite, and kind while he does it. THAT was the point of that anon, Anon. Perhaps you missed it running to your own prejudicial conclusions about him.
If you chose to dwell on only half of the sentence, you miss the entire point.
OK?
OK.
Thanks for your comment even if you left out the important part. 💙💪✨🎉🙌
