I'm running a half-marathon in three weeks.
I can only hope that the excitement of the race will carry me through and make it easier, because I've run 15km, 16.4km, 17.2km during the past three weeks, and each time it felt like I was at my limit. I don't feel the progress the way I felt with runs under 15km, the same 15km feels very hard every single time.
Maybe strength training would help a bit, but to be honest, I'm not very good at fitting it into my current schedule.
I’m thanking @oh-no-its-dragons for this one. Broke an 11-year-old PR and went sub 2:10 for the first time.
I had so many mishaps, but I made it through.
First, my 5am alarm didn't go off, or maybe I turned it off and don't remember. Fortunately, I set a backup alarm, but I wasn't thinking and it went off quite a bit later than I needed to wake up. I had to rush. I didn't forget anything, but I did get lost, and I had to run half a mile to get to the half-marathon. I was not thrilled about that. I was late, but that didn't matter.
My toe was fine, but I got a blister around mile 11. I am still traveling home so I haven't taken off my shoes yet, but I can tell that it's going to be gross.
My ankle started hurting five miles in.
I actually had fun and I am not very tired. I saw one person I know but she was doing the 5k so I didn't get a chance to say hi.
I'm a little jealous of the people who have best friends to run races with. I met two ladies who came from Chicago.
Ramtha: “I hate that noisy slug.”
Bert: “It’s the Great Serpent of Ronka!”
Ramtha: “NO! NO, IT IS NOT!”

So, TL;DR: I suck at running, I’m disappointed in my time and abilities and feel like I let people down. People keep telling me how great I did. No, I really didn’t do great at all and I am feeling seriously distraught over it.
It’s taken me nearly a week to write this post, as it has taken me time to process how I feel about the entire experience. Spoilers: not good.
It seems that every…

In summary my half Marathon was quite successful seeing that I haven’t tried running the 13 miles in the last year and the most I had run recently were about 14 k. Additionally I was sick on race day and i was already considering not competing .
In the end I’m f*cking happy i did. It was such an easy race. Even though my pulse was constantly over 190. But I was totally relaxed and appearently I also looked like I was ( according to a friend supporting me suprisingly ).
My time was 1 h 53 m :)
Now I’m hyped for racing again.
