ADHD & Autism in Grad School -- I don’t really have followers on this blog, but maybe someone will see this in the tags.

I am 30 years old. I was diagnosed with ADHD (primarily inattentive type) at 22, my senior year of college. I’m now in my second year of my PhD program, starting 4th year of grad school after working for 5 years. Recently--after a few people suggested the possibility to me, and then discussing it on and off with my partner--I have finally emailed the university’s disability office to learn about being evaluated for an Autism Spectrum Disorder. 

I am curious if anyone else has had experiences doing grad school with ADHD or autism. I’m also curious about how people talk to their advisor and programs about executive dysfunction and ADHD, or about being autistic. (I won’t have that particularly conversation, obviously, unless I am diagnosed--just because that is what is comfortable to me--but I have even been struggling with explaining ADD- and EF-related things in conversations with my advisor, so I am trying to prepare.)

I just feel very isolated in my struggles right now. I want to be successful, but I feel like the structure of academia repeatedly sets me up to fail. I have a highly competitive scholarship and am under a lot of pressure to “be excellent,” and I just want to...to understand how to do it.

Any insight on talking to advisors and departments about ADHD and ASD in grad school would be much appreciated. Do not hesitate to DM please.

Anybody happen to remember which panel it was where Jensen said he doesn’t like talking about seasons 6 and 7?  I know it happened (and I do remember it was a J2 panel, with the camera favoring Jensen’s side), but there’s such a huge pile of panels from over the years, I can’t remember which panel it is exactly.  Halp?
