i mean technically i’ve done it with ashton but HONESTLY i love horror movies and calum so you’re in luck!

my friends and i have a tradition of marathoning scary movies over halloween and since this is one of the first few years we’ve been apart i can definitely see you and Cal settling in and watching some trashy horror together to get in the spirit and like obviously you’d like to think you can handle something a little more gory so you put on Texas Chainsaw but you were wrong you were so wrong oh shit and you’ve descended from Home Alone face to just sticking your face in Cal’s chest - initially goofing around about it - “protect me, babe” - but now it’s very real. 

but he’d be so fuckin good about it like he’d tell you when it was safe to look and he’d probably grab one of your hands and give it little kisses during the bad bits (you can still hear it and it’s brutal) and he keeps telling you you can turn it off if you want. he’d probably be rubbing your back slowly, especially when he feels you turn your head to look and you’d be able to feel him flinch or shift (because he’s scared too but he’s trying not to show it) and he’d be too nice to remind you you’re the one who wanted to do this and like - i feel like he’d try to put on a brave face for you and calm you down and hold you through the next movie even if you tried to squirm away because “it’s scooby-doo, babe, i think i can handle it” “said i’d protect you, didn’t i?” and you’d give up and let him hold you for the rest of the night because the important thing about halloween is the time you spend scared shitless with friends and family!!

i feel like he’d get so caught up in the classic americana of it all (i’m pretty sure australia doesn’t have that many deciduous trees but i’m not an expert) and dig out an old flannel for it and gloves and set out to find a rake (and probably have to buy one but he’d be excited about using it every year and then having his kids use it when it’s worn and weathered). and you’d offer to help but he would say he wanted to do it for you “but i’m pretty sure hot cocoa after is a part of the deal so if you could arrange that -” 

and he’d come in so proud of himself with his cheeks all red and cold coming off his skin and there is hot chocolate, as requested. you’d probably pretend you weren’t watching him out the window the whole time so he could show you what a good job he did and sure enough, there’s a massive pile of leaves in the middle of the yard and you’d tell him it looked great and he’d beam at it proudly, too proud to notice you slipping away from his side until he hears the front door close and sees you booking it towards the pile with the most dangerous grin on your face and he comes chasing after you like ‘baBE DON’T YOU DARE”
