Info Panels - Volume 4
Hammerbeak was created by takingturnsatrandom for the ATOM Create a Kaiju Contest. Takingturnsatrandom retains all the rights to Hammerbeak, and the illustration and profile here are adapted from …
TWO MORE KAIJU MADE FOR YOU AND IN PART BY YOU!
First we have @takingturnsatrandom‘s Hammerbeak. All of his entries were crazy creative creature concepts, but, after a good bit of deliberation, I settled on Hammerbeak being the winner of the bunch. Cassowaries make such a good base for a bird kaiju, and the weird touches takingturnsatrandom added - from the thagomizer to the long arms and of course that hammer-like-beak - made it all the more fun to illustrate.
@cerothenull‘s chimeric monster Osteogre is our next file (its original contest entry can be found here). Cerothenull’s entries were all really strong contenders with wild designs and distinct personalities, and picking one out of the five was incredibly tough. However, I love placoderms, and I love fish people, and Ostegre is both of these, so it ultimately became the victor. At least for now - like I said, I have a powerful desire to make the rest of the entries in the contest once these 27 are finished.

Well I've completed my school assignment for the Romeo and Juliet children's book project, but this isn't the end of my feather coated Shakespearian tale...
Part One
Part Two
Well here’s the school assignment version of my parody of Romeo and Juliet, but with a cast of birds. Some of said birds are actually people’s entries for @tyrantisterror's ATOM Create a Kaiju contest, and another being a submission made specifically for this project. These birds belong to…
@iamthekaijuking’s Plumera (she’s my creation).
@theload’s Pengku.
@takingturnsatrando’s Hammerbeak.
@ask-drakos’s Okhalee.
@godzillakiryu91’s Pyraformes is supposed to be in place of the owl, but the assignment deadline was running close and I didn’t have time to make more character sketches to get things right. So instead of Pyraformes, there’s Not-Pyraformes in her place.
@mari-ca7 your beautifully well done submission is also present.
I honestly think I could have done better if I wasn’t rushed for time and forced to use pencil and paper instead of stylus and tablet. I do want to actually make a Romeo and Juliet parody, just not a children’s book. I might make a comic or something out of this later down the line when my skills are good enough to tackle such a feat. And even then I won’t be done with this project.
Because this might be adapted into an animated movie.
My best friend (the same friend who takes part in creating and developing the GUARDIANverse) wants to become a film director. Now granted, we both have to get through high school hell and college first, but he’s always wanted to try and make an animated movie and he also really wants to see this turned into a movie (he also is determined to make a GUARDIANverse movie franchise as well)! So @theload @takingturnsatrandom @ask-drakos and @godzillakiryu91 do my friend and I have your permission to use your characters when and if we make a movie?
ALSO SOMEBODY GET PLEBEIANTOLOGIST’S ATTENTION SO I CAN ASK FOR PERMISSION TO USE NOSFERACUL BECAUSE THERE IS NO OTHER BIRD THAT IS MORE PERFECT FOR THE ROLE OF PARIS THAN HIM!!!
Boom. There’s some of the character designs. Mercutio needs work (and less foot cancer). Pyraformes also needs work.
Just a little sketch of Hammerbeak (owned by @takingturnsatrandom) posing as Lord Montague, complete with a decadent gold cane to show his wealth. I had to simplify his crest and thagomizer to make those body parts easier to draw repeatedly. Just as I thought, the feet were a bitch to draw. I added eye wrinkles, droopy arm feathers, a slouched neck, and more neck wattles to make him look older. But the first time I went overboard on the wattles, so I had to erase two whole rows. Plus there’s a little Lord Montague quote from Romeo and Juliet for you Shakespeare fans.
I think he looks pretty good as Lord Montague!
Doing sketches of the bird cast for my Romeo and Juliet children book project. Top left is Hammerbeak, who is owned by @takingturnsatrandom and will most likely be parodying Lord Montague. Top middle is Pengku, who is owned by @theload and will be parodying Lady Capulet. Top right is Okaylee, who is owned by @ask-drakos and will WITHOUT A DOUBT be parodying Tybalt. I have gotten permission to use them. I must mention that the doodles of them are quickly sketched copies of @tyrantisterror’s renditions of them. They were only made as a quick reference point and practice on their shapes. I will add my own flair to their designs later on. Hammerbeak will need to look older, Pengku will need to look younger, and Okaylee will need to look more Tybalt-y. The bottom sketch is a doodle of my very own Plumera, who will be parodying Juliet. Not gonna lie, feet and heads are probably going to be the most frustrating to draw at various angles.
