Hammerhedge AU where Dunk, haunted by grief and guilt over Baelor's death, goes to seek out a famous witch to try and strike some sort of bargain for the prince's life. The old crone agrees and essencially tells him that she would switch their fates, Dunk dying during the trial for Baelor surviving. Thinking that it is the best for the realm, he agrees.

Next thing we know it's Baelor waking up, barely having survived his head wound and being told that Dunk had bled out from his injuries while he was unconcious. The smallfolk is incredibly angry about their champion dying with some saying he was poisioned by the Targaryens for wounding their pride. Egg has killed Aerion to avenge his hedge knight. Both Baratheon and the Fossoway cousin refuse to interact with them and everything is a mess. The realm is falling apart. Trust in the king? Ruined. The Blackfyre rebellions keep on cropping up together with a few peasant ones. It's horrible and stressful and Baelor can't help but feel so incredibly haunted by and guilty over Dunk's death. The only true knight. The one that held his vows. The good knight who died and who surely would have given the world much more joy than a contested king of a failing dynasty.

So he rides to the forest to seek out a famous witch to try and strike some sort of bargain for the knight's life. Rafe and Dunk Baratheon au

Alright, so, in this au Dunk and Rafe are slightly older, and one day, while the Baratheons are visiting King's Landing, for like a meeting with the king or something, child Lyonel sneeks away from his family and ends up in Flea Bottom, some people try to rob him but Dunk's a bleeding heart and helps him escape.

Lyonel spends three days with Dunk and Rafe, at the end of which he convinces them to come back to the keep with him, there he finds his parents (who were going crazy looking for him) and introduces them.

His parents had just gone through a miscarriage of what would have been twins, so when they saw the big child hunching in himself and looking at them with his big bue teary eyes, and the smaller child basically hissig at them with distrust in her eyes, both half hiding behind thir hopeful son, well they got attached, and saw it as a sign from the gods. So the visit turned into them adopting the two, making Lyonel very happy and giving them someone to dote on.

Over the years the triplets (as they are so inseparable they are usually grouped together) grow up loved and spoiled, they're given an education worth of being lord's children, and as Lyonel has three older brothers the pressure isn't all that high.

Lyonel and Dunk discover their love for jousting together, while Rafe prefers hunting, real hutning not the sport version nobles do. They also find their own talents, Lyonel is great with the people, he's good at understanding them and at leading, and by the time they're teenagers the whole Stormlands adore him, Dunk finds his propension toward law, he develops an interest and spends some of his freetime in the library learning how the law works and all its intrecancies, Rafe prefers matters of gold, she understands numbers and can sniff out corruption and money laundering from a mile away, it also helps that she's great at finding information. Together they are amazing, and some joke that of they were only one person the Stormland would have the best lord in its entire history.

Years pass and with various reasons all thgree of Lyonel's older brothers die, leaving Lyonel as the heir and Dunk and Rafe as the spares, this is not good for them, as they feel pressure they've never felt before and suddenly Dunk and Rafe have to start thinking about the possibility of having to marry one of their Baratheons cousins, as should something happen to Lyonel before he has children they will have to bring forth the Baratheon line.

Lyonel, not willing to see his sibling who'd hate being heir in such a position accepts his father proposal of a ball, where the most important families will be invited, to find Lyonel a spouse.

A tourney is organised, and the royal family is also invited. At the tourney, which none of the siblings participate in, Dunk meets Baelor, and Baelor, after witnessing Dunk nerd out about laws and chivalry, is smitten and, thankfully, his wife, Jena also finds herself intrigued with the young man her husband's height who while shy truly shines when talking about his interests. Meanwhile Rafe meets Maekar and Dyanna and is mesmerized (especially by Dyanna) and the three hit it off and quickly become good friends ove rthe course of the tourney.

Through a series of shenanigans Baelor and Jena never find out who Dunk is, while Maekar and Dyanna are well aware who Rafe is and continue being in contact over the years, later on becoming lovers.

After Dyanna's death Rafe and Maekar get married and share their grief for their lost lover, Maekar's children knew that both their parents were involved with Rafe so there isnt too much tension there (apart from Aerion being a bitch).

Ashford arrives, and Baelor is exited to hear that not only will the Laughing Storm be partecipating, but also The Eye of the Storm, the famous adopted twin of Lyonel (because he's a jousting nerd and Dunk has made a reputation for himself), but he still sometimes wonders about the young man he had met all those years ago and who he had never seen again.

The joust goes well and Baelor and Jena ralise just who the Eye of the Storm is, and after the tourney go to him to talk. All three of them find love in each other (the couple also appreciate that the young man is now much taller than both with a body as thick as a castle wall).

So now we have amazng wingman Rafe making sure Dunk gets to spend time with his loves, and professional cockblocker Lyonel who doesn't want the dragons to snatch anopther of his precious siblings, they've already stolen his siters, they aren't getting his brother.
