15th August is happily celebrated as Independence Day in India. On this day, India got independence from 200 years of British rule. Independence Day is the day that reminds us of the sacrifice of our freedom fighters.
This freedom that India got was very important for us and for the future generation, because the heroes of the country sacrificed their lives for this and fought a lot. Due to the sacrifice of Bhagat Singh, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Dr. Rajendra Prasad, Sukhdev, Gopal Krishna Gokhale, Lala Lajpat Rai, Lokmanya Balgangadhar Tilak, Chandra Shekhar Azad and many more. We are able to breathe in independent India today.
On 15th August 1947, the first Prime Minister of the country Jawaharlal Nehru hoisted the tricolor flag at the Red Fort. He also gave a speech from there, from that day onwards, every year on August 15th, the PM of the country hoists the flag at the Red Fort and gives a speech.
There is also a tradition of flying kites on this day. Subhash Chandra Bose, the great freedom fightern, played an important role in giving independence to Hindustan. But you will not know that Subhash Chandra Bose was not in this celebration when India got independence.
South Korea, Bahrain and Congo also celebrate Independence Day on the 15th of August. However, these countries were independent in different years 1945, 1971 and 1960 respectively.
After the Independence Day India has to face a partition.
