i would like to note that i do not ship lmentio, just

the fact that nobody knew L's real name...the idea of this clown dating someone and not knowing their fucking name

i had to, it came to me in a vision

My idea is based on my hc that L remembers everything, it's just that because he's wallowing in his jealousy and angts and everything, his memories are tainted by that ("oh we had fun during this tournament" > "of fucking course mario beat me again, who could have seen it coming /s". "Oh that one time i really messed up my baking, but we had a good laugh with the princess about it" > "she wasn't laughing with me she was laughing at me i'm sure of it" etc)

So like, obviously he tells Dimentio his real name at some point after they become a thing

But then he starts wondering

"Hmm that's weird, i would have expected him to come up with a new nickname by now, but he's still only using Eli. And there's no way he's doing that just to respect me hiding my name
