I could write a whole essay about how Nina’s nostalgia in Act 2 doesn’t really come from the fact that she left her home, but from how things ended with her family. Because they might love her and even forgive her in time, but it’s still the 1920s’s Sicily, and she still ruined herself, and it still radically changed the way her family sees her.
And she simply cannot go home. At least not for a long time.
