I really wish “HD Remake/Remaster” on games meant “we’re updating the graphics due to better technological abilities but keeping the original style/soul of the game” rather than “Everything is now smooth and plastic-looking, and somehow the characters emote and move less than when the hardware literally couldn’t do any better”

Examples I can think of off the top of my head:

- Ocarina of Time 3D

- Majora’s Mask 3D

- Wind Waker HD (this is not solely a Zelda problem I swear)

- Klonoa Wii

- Klonoa: Phantasy Reverie Series (remade twice and gotten worse and more wooden each time)

Like I get that a lot of the charm of older graphical styles is born form working around graphical limitations of the time (something something flaws of a medium etc) but like those things were in fact charming so why not polish what couldn’t be instead of sanding everything down to the point of not resembling itself anymore?

I don’t want *graphics* I want STYLE
