I think Damian would’ve been taught to value animal lives just as much as human ones in the LOA, though with the flipside that human life and autonomy also matters just as little as animals’, so killing can be justified as culling. I think the belief would be so ingrained in him that Damian would have a hard time articulating it, but of course when the Bats tell him it is wrong to kill he naturally also becomes a vegetarian.
