It’s getting to be that time of year again.. everything’s packed in the camper and we’re making the trek across Kansas. Colorado bound. Mountain bound.
I LOVE wind energy, and I LOVE driving by the giant turbines. Living next to the trains in St. Louis, we occasionally get to see the parts being shipped around and they are just massive. So seeing these giants spinning away at this scale always makes me happy!
Denver I shall see you in twelve days.
Can't fucking wait!
If I could just hit rewind, eject and erase it I've gotta replace this tape 'cause it can't sing along Because you, you ruin so many songs Even though it's been so long All that I ever do drink enough to try to forget

what a wonderful past 5 days in the Bay Area!
✨We stayed with my best friend, Kat, and got to see so much of my other best friend, Kate. After a long road trip, it was so nice to land somewhere with friends that I felt at home with. We ate amazing food and explored some local parks and visited Half Moon Bay and drank wine and stayed up late talking and talking. Spent Friday afternoon climbing down cliffs, looking in tide pools, and searching for sea glass
✨Visited @blackcoffeeandblankpagess !!! We had originally intended to go to a running talk with Billy Yang, Mario Fraioli, and Sally McRae prior to TNF50 this weekend. But then we showed up at the wrong running store after both of us had double checked the location that day 😂. So we turned around and met the boys (who went climbing together ❤️) at a pizza place in Berkeley that she recommended. We ordered not 1, not 2, not 3, but FOUR pizzas and they were all so delicious. It’s always so nice getting to hug her and she’s one of the few people I can always nerd out over all things running with. You know that feeling when you haven’t seen a friend for a while and you have so much to catch up on and talk about that you can’t talk fast enough? That’s how it always is with Danielle. ❤️
✨Got to meet @rachaeldee and share some miles after her amazing marathon last weekend! She took me to a local favorite park of hers and it was so foggy and beautiful. Running and talking with her reminded me of a specific line in this quote:
“I’m not saying being a runner makes you better than anyone else. But one thing is for sure. Running makes you different. You begin to understand the connection between your feet and the ground. You start to believe in the beauty of unfiltered conversation... So no, running does not make you special. But it sure as hell wakes you up.”
✨I haven’t overlooked the fact that we were capable of doing this big road trip. That there’s a lot of privilege involved in not only moving across the country, but also that we were able to take our time and enjoy doing it. I’m feeling very grateful for this time out of work and feeling more ready to get back into it. Provider burnout is a real thing and I left my previous job feeling jaded and under appreciated in a lot of ways. I’ve said to multiple people I really wish I had taken a big road trip for a month or so after I finished college so that I could see national parks and more of the country. I feel lucky that I was able to do this in between jobs, because I didn’t ever think I’d have the opportunity when I started working.
✨At the same time, if you’re daydreaming of a different life and have the means, pursue that life. Visualize it and make it happen. Life is precious and you only have one! I’m writing this trying to be aware that it’s difficult for many people to change their life situation due to financial and family obligations. But even if you are unable to make a big move, pursue things that interest you. Try new experiences and find adventures! Make life interesting! I want to be able to be on my death bed and say “yep, I lived a wild and beautiful life.”
I’ve obviously seen a lot of pictures of Yosemite but nothing I saw before this did it justice. It feels like a whole new beautiful world inside the valley. We were limited with where we could explore with Harper, but we will be back to hike it properly soon!
