A vegan take on the traditional beer-battered halibut recipe, made with gluten-free ingredients and a tasty batter.
Ingredients: 1 cup gluten-free all-purpose flour. 1 teaspoon baking powder. 1/2 teaspoon salt. 1/2 teaspoon paprika. 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder. 1/4 teaspoon onion powder. 1 cup gluten-free beer. 1 tablespoon ground flaxseed. 3 tablespoons water. 4 halibut fillets or vegan fish substitute.
Instructions: Mix the baking powder, salt, paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder in a bowl. This is gluten-free all-purpose flour. Mix the water and ground flaxseed in a different bowl with a whisk. Set it aside for 5 minutes to gel. Add the gluten-free beer to the flaxseed mix and mix it well. In a deep fryer or large pot, heat the oil to 375F 190C. Each halibut fillet should be dipped in the beer batter mix and then carefully put into the hot oil. They should be fried for three to four minutes, or until they are golden brown and crispy. Take the fried fillets out of the oil and put them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain the extra oil. Serve hot with the sauce of your choice.
