Ah, these pictures bring back a lot of memories of my first playthrough shortly after the game was released. Most of these I took during the spring and summer of 2017. That first playthrough is really something special!

Alright, so I finished up my Twilight Princess playthrough, with 20 hearts. I managed 19 hearts and 1 piece on my own, without a walkthrough. Props to those guys at Zelda Dungeon for their guides which I’ve used countless times. So now I’m down to finding 4 pieces. Using ZD’s guide, I found 3. That last one stumped me. I looked through those 45 pieces, thinking which one could I have possibly not gotten? I knew that going through, I got every chest in every dungeon, so I knew that was out. I finally decided Okay, I might not have herded the goats again, so I’ll check there. I went there. I spoke to Fado. He said something to the effect of “Oh, don’t worry Link, I’ll take care of the rest of these guys.”
Isn’t that reason to think I’d already gotten the piece of heart? Am I wrong in assuming that? Was I being unreasonable? Well, now I was getting really frustrated. I look at the guide again, go rooting around again. Finally, I remember that there is a fortune teller in Castle Town who can give you “love” advice. She’ll tell me where that last one is! I’ll be done! I pay her, and what does she show me? THE FUCKING ORDON RANCH. WHAT. WHAT IS THIS???
So yeah, I go back to Fado. He asks me to herd the goats again. Now, I’m already not a fan of the herding minigame, so I’m yelling at these fucking goats (how the hell do they grow those horns, anyway??). I finish, and sure enough, Fado gives me a piece of heart. My brain is working overtime, here. How the hell did I mess this up? It hits me. I asked him the first time at twilight. The automatic response from Fado seems to be that if you talk to him as the sun is setting, then he’ll tell you he doesn’t need help. If you ask during the day, he’ll let you do it. Needless to say, I’m pretty done with Twilight Princess now. Love the game, guys. Just... heart pieces. Christ.

Okay but can you imagine going through the entire game with only 3 hearts *shudder*
