I got a warrenty and they said they’d send it away for free if it needed servicing.

I thought the lenses have a bigger impact on the types of photos I'm planning to take? I think I'll wait till the Christmas sales for some good deals. I'll have to go to the store in city and will probably be able to get a good package/talk them into selling me a 60D/7D + 15-85mm lens together or something.. That's really good! I'm still at highschool, but my brothers are uni students if I can't get a discount. They can also get a product from Harvey Norman or Noel Lemming decreased so the markup is at 15%  :) I guess I'll just have to wait and make sure I don't rush my decision. Thanks for all the help.

I have an 18-135mm lens which was part of the package I bought. Guess it depends on what you’re doing - I bought mine for both filming AND photos. You’ll need a memory card too though (which cost me an extra $200)

I have this camera. this, 50mm 1.8 (cheapest lens ever, but so sweet) and you’re all ready. stray away from ‘kit lens’ i.e 18-55mm

I'm leaning towards the 60D with 50mm 1.8 and preferably the 15-85mm 2.5-5.6, although this is not paired with the body in any shops I've seen (apart from Trademe, at $2028!!! It comes w/ warranty, but I'm worried as I won't be able to try out the camera and lens :\)

I'll prob be mainly taking photos, minimal vid. 18-135mm seems decent as well, and it's $1788 at Parallel Imported with body, but I've heard such wonders about the 15-85.. If I buy all the parts separately it'll be maybe just under $3000. . . I'm very tempted at the TradeMe one. Argh so many options! Thanks anyway~~

I have a 7D and that range seems to be pretty good. 

Sounds good as well, I'll look into thanks ^^ Although maybe the few extra hundred would be invested in better lenses with the 60D? What lens do you use? :)

Oh, no I actually don't mind that much, but I appreciate your concern. I play ukulele for my own enjoyment, I've never been one to fish for compliments. It'll take a lot more to actually get to me. This was just such a bizarre and ridiculous comment I had to share it. HATERS GONNA HATE.

Reeeeally? It's 99.99% sex, complaining about being poor/not enough car parks/lectures/religion on campus. What's the Auckland one like?

Craccum USED to be hilarious, note that 'used to be' part, it's important. But the new staff this year have just ruined it and botched what was once great. Now it is just full of articles about what's happening in Syria and other war/politics shit. They even did a "funny" issue a few weeks back and it was not funny at all. All the letters to the editor etc, are people complaining about how crap it has become. Every issue was gone by Wednesday/Thursday and now at the end of Fridays, there is nearly half of them left over.
