Yes, I’m on a break from writing, but I feel like I need to chat about the absolute dread of reading so many fanfics. Whether it’s a ship or an x reader. You realise you’ve read nearly all of the works that appear under said tag, so you have to wallow in hell trying to scroll for one that you haven't read, or you just re-read the ones you’ve already read, but it doesn’t hit the same.
I’VE DONE THIS WITH SO MANY CHARACTERS THAT I’VE JUST ACCEPTED IT AND TALK TO MYSELF THAT AS SOON as I'm off my break, I'm going to write for all these characters.
Is it weird to say I miss a fictional character, even when I can consume the media at any point?

It wasn’t a moment, or something specific. It was rather that Hearthstone had not realized yet that maybe he cares about you differently than how he cared about his other friends. You had always been close together, and supported each other. On days where his magic practice was going too slow for his liking, you always had his back, and when you were feeling unwell Hearthstone tended to drop what he was doing in favor of making you feel better.
He didn’t realize he was in love when you randomly showed up with a gift for him- endearingly so, handing it over, signing “I thought of you,” and making him literally speechless as he carefully unwrapped the present. It was silly, a goose wearing a scarf that resembled his, but even so you had thought of him, and he carefully pocketed the goose. He thanked you, and whenever he felt nervous he noticed he would seek out his silly goose, and think of you and your comfort.
He didn’t realize he was in love when he was crying because you almost died in a fight defending him. He hadn’t yet realized he was crying either, it had been a stupid moment- his runes were scattered on the floor, and you were fighting off the wolves in front of him, trying to give him a chance to grab the runes off the floor. In hindsight, saying ‘almost died’ was a bit of an overstatement, but you were battered, and bleeding, and smiling at him. You put away your weapons, and signed “are you okay?” as if he was the one with gashes on his arms. But ultimately you were okay, and Hearthstone knew that it meant that he would be okay. His tears dried, and his heart beated.
He didn’t realize he was in love when it was just you and him on a walk together. It had been winter, and the loss of sunshine had been taking a toll on Hearthstone. So, you took it upon yourself to drag him out on a walk whenever it was supposed to be a sunny day. The sun still wouldn’t be strong, but it would be natural. You were just walking in the park, side by side, looking for a spot to simply stand or sit in the sun for a bit. He had noticed you had packed a blanket- perhaps to sit on, or under, as the weather was rather cold. He wondered whether you had brought snacks, you probably had, as to prolong the time out, and he wondered what it would feel like to be the sun on your smiling face. To be the warmth that embraced you, to be the reason for your little contend smile. These thoughts should’ve caught him off guard, if it wasn’t for the fact that they seemed to be recurring ones. More often he found himself to be in a more poetic mood with you around, and more often he found himself reaching for your essence.
He almost realized he was in love when you were studying together. He was practicing rune magic, and you had asked if you could do your own thing within the same room. He kept getting distracted by your presence, even if you weren’t moving much at all. On the contrary, you were sitting perfectly still, engrossed in your work, and every so often Hearthstone just wished you would look at him like that. Like he’s all you’re thinking about, working on. But then he shook his head, and went back to his own work. He had after all a goal in mind, and that goal wasn’t yet dating you.
He should have realized it whenever his mood soured and he hadn’t seen you in a few days. He never could pinpoint the correlation between the two, not that it was too obvious to his friends. It always started with the day seemingly more tedious than before, although not bad, and perhaps a bit more gloom at the corners of his thoughts. Yet, he never knew you were the fix for it, because to him it was obvious that spending time with those you love simply make you happier, and love you he did. Although, admittedly, the label platonic wasn’t one he could relate with anymore.
So, when did he realize he was in love with you? Was it when you smiled at him for the hundredth time, or when you carefully cupped his face when he got a bruise on it from a fight? Perhaps, it was that one time you simply hosted a get together for all your friends, and hours later everyone found out you hosted it because of your birthday. You explained that being with them was the only present you needed, but in the coming week most of your friends still gave you a little something, and Hearthstone’s first idea for a gift was a kiss. Maybe he had realized it late at night, laying in his sunbed at Blitzen’s, eyes closed but thoughts running, unable to get you out of his mind, unable to let go and fall asleep. He might realize it tomorrow, when Magnus jokingly says that it’s almost like he’s in love with you, and Hearthstone will deny it, while also denying his feelings. But he knows one thing, he would never want to be without you.

Percy:
- Percy is extremely loyal. That itself isn't a bad thing but sometimes...not great. He's loyal to you, he's loyal to his friends. But choosing...well...
- It depends. Imagine there's a fight between his friends and you. And let's imagine he's known his friends longer then you. He'll take his friends side. No matter what
- His friends said what? No they didn't they wouldn't do that! They did that? Stop lying! He knows his friends. They would never
- And may the gods help you if it's Annabeth and Grover you get into a fight with
- he's also extremely oblivious
- At first you thought it was adorable. Like awww what a cute boy but then...
- It gets into the "well come on" zone
- People at camp will obviously flirt with him
- They also do stuff like flex right at him (while they're sweaty) and pushing their arms together to draw attention to....places
- And he doesn't tell them to back off or anything
- He doesn't full on flirt with anyone but he's gotta playful personality so it just happens sometimes
- It's never his intention but it just enables them!
- If you ever bring it up? He'll deny it
- They asked for help with their sword posture!
- They need to get something from a high up place!
- They were just being nice!
- You're just jealous and paranoid!
Jason:
- Jason can be a bit...direct
- To put it simply
- Sometimes it feels like his words cut wounds into you
- He doesn't mean to hurt your feelings or anything
- But he just doesn't see the point in lying if you can get something out of telling the truth
- He personally is always trying to do the best he can
- There isn't much room for error in his mind
- So he assumes you want the same
- I mean yeah. That painting does look pretty bad compared to your other work
- The writing in that is sloppy. Everything is phrased weirdly
- If you keep holding the sword like that your gonna embarrass yourself
- Why are you upset?
- He's just saying the truth!
- Come on. Don't you want to get better?
Leo:
- Leo is SO insecure.
- He's 100% convinced he's not good enough for you.
- That you're going to leave him. So he needs constant reassurance.
- That isn't bad. You're glad to reassure him.
- It's not his fault that he insecure!
- But this insecurity turns into ugly jealousy.
- You're hanging out with some other boy?
- He knows you're cheating.
- He wouldn't blame you. He wouldn't be with him either.
- Next time he sees you he tells you no he fully understands why you're cheating on him
- So you'll have to be with him for a full day to reassure him you love him and only him
- You might not talk to that friend again...

- He won't let you in.
- Trying to bond with him is pointless. He'll want to know about you.

- But as soon as you wonder about him he gets upset.
- Saying you're pushing him and he'll say what he does and doesn't wan to tell you.
- But as soon as you do the same he says you just don't love him anymore
- He doesn't communicate his feelings. You're often left to wonder if he's upset because of something maybe you did?
- Or maybe something happened while you were apart?
- Don't pry though
- He won't tell you anything if you do
- He has a tendency to ignore everything for a bit. Lock himself away.
- Ignore everything and everyone.
- He never tells you when he's gonna do this.
- You're fully understanding though, life can be hard.
- They started happening on important dates (birthdays, anniversaries, special occasions) and you didn't mind to much still but did express a bit of hurt. (After it kept happening over and over again)
- He only responded with "well what do you want me to do about it?"
Frank:
- we all know Frank has pretty bad self esteem
- He'll often say bad stuff about himself
- Which leads to you reassuring him none of it is true
- Which is fine at first
- Everyone needs reassurance!
- But it gets to a point that he'll say things like "I'm not as good as (insert friend) you should go and be with them"
- Which then leads to you leaving that friend
- It happens a lot
- You slowly realize you pushed away a lot of people
- When you try to stop pushing them away and bring them back in he'll immediately go back to what he's been saying
- That he knew you liked them better than him
- And you push them away again...
- It's a unhealthy cycle
Will:
- Will treats you like a child
- You can't do anything for yourself
- At first it was cute
- Like 'awww my boyfriend is so sweet and caring!'
- Then it's 'oh. My boyfriend just thinks I'm completely incapable'
- You wanna go climb the lava wall? No! He's told you before it's dangerous!

- Gods help you if you get hurt after he warning you of something
- He'll lecture you for HOURS about how he was right and look where it landed you. If you just listened to him you wouldn't be hurt right now

- He's had to control a whole cabin and raise so many people

- After a while you noticed he treats you not different than he treats his friends
- No matter what

- He thought you understood him
- That he had gone through a lot

- He's got a shit ton of emotional baggage
- Which he's never really liked dumping onto people
- So that turns into bottling it up
- He won't tell you anything that he's been through (if you were there for it at least)
- So much to the point that he barely opens up at all
- So after a while of dating you realize
- You know nothing about him
- Is he allergic to anything? What's his favorite color? He wears black a lot but does he do that cause he looks good or cause he likes the color? Maybe both?
- What are his dreams? What's his favorite food???
- You know nothing
- He knows a lot about you though
- Life everything
- So he doesn't see the problem
- What's the matter?
- He knows everything about you and that's enough

He pulled them closer to his side with his arm wrapped around their shoulders as they talked with Magnus, “ So you’re really going to New York? “
“ Yeah, Annabeth wants me to meet some of her friends while they’re in town. “ Magnus shrugged, “ When do you think you’ll be back? “ Y/n queried.
“ Probably in about a week. “ Magnus answered, “ Why you gonna miss me? “
They scoffed playfully, “ I’m gonna miss killing you. “
Subtlety Hearthstone had tightened his grip around their waist. Magnus smirked at the elf at his possible jealous behavior that his significant other wasn’t noticing. In proper Magnus fashion, he had to continue with the teasing until his best friend had enough.
“ Is little Y/n going to miss me? “ He teased in a childish voice, “ I have a knife, and I’m not afraid to use it. “ They retorted.
“ Is it the knife Blitz made you? “ Magnus queried, making Hearthstone tense immediately, “ Hearth, you okay? “ He asked the white-blond male.
Hearthstone didn’t want to take his arm away from his significant other's waist, so he nodded, but the grip on their waist was hard to ignore, “ Just come see me before you leave, yeah? “ Y/n replied.
“ Yes, ma’am. “ Magnus saluted and walked off with a victorious smirk, leaving them alone.
Instantly his grip on their waist was calmed, and they turned to him using their hands to sign, “ Are you okay, love? “
“ I’m fine. “ He signed back, and they let out a defeated huff crossing their arms, “ Are you okay? “
“ No, tell me what’s wrong. “ They signed, and Hearthstone gave a look of reluctance.
It was when they started laughing that his train of thought stopped. He couldn’t hear their laughter, but he could see them almost doubling over in tears at the amusing sight that he didn’t see. When they calmed down, they gave him the biggest smile he’d ever seen on their face. It warmed his heart and made his stomach flutter.
“ You were jealous. “ Y/n accused, and immediately Hearthstone signed back, “ No. “
“ It’s okay to be jealous. “ They replied, and Hearth crossed his arms defiantly, making them chuckle again.
Gently they grabbed the scarf from across his neck and put it around themselves. Wholly consumed in the way it smelt like cinnamon, pine, and eucalyptus. He admired the way that Y/n snuggled up in his scarf. The scarf never really left him unless it got lost, stolen, or fell apart. Blitz always told him that he looked better with it. Hearthstone had to disagree. His significant other really pulled it off.
They kissed his cheek before signing, “ You’re the only one I’ll ever love, H. “
He blushed before pulling them in for a tight hug. He knew that his jealousy was fruitless. They’d never leave him, and they had done so much for him. So they just stood there together in the hallway of floor nineteen, embracing one another. His white-blond hair tickled her shoulder, and his light grey eyes were shut in contentment. Happy to be in their arms and forever loved.
