About Fig Tree
Fig Tree is an NYC-based independent Jewish education program for children ages 3– 13. The purpose of Fig Tree is to provide a rich and accessible Jewish education to kids from interfaith, interracial and/ or secular backgrounds- or simply to families seeking a Hebrew School alternative. Job Description
The part-time Program Coordinator will be responsible for several aspects of Fig
Tree’s operations and programming. Some of these responsibilities will be on site at
Fig Tree class locations on fixed weekdays, and others can be performed remotely with flexibility (details on all of this below). As we grow, there will be opportunities for increased ownership and role augmentation.
Responsibilities
1. Function as Site Coordinator at Fig Tree class locations on Tuesdays
(Williamsburg), Wednesdays (Brooklyn Hts), Thursdays (Ft Greene) and
Sundays (Park Slope or Greenwich Village): greet students and families,
oversee location logistics, and problem-solve any issues that arise.
2. Pick up kids from school and bringing them to Fig Tree class location on
Thursdays [potentially other days as well as the year progresses]
3. Assist with program admin, craft and activity prep, lesson prep and
(potentially) materials delivery
4. Perform research on curriculum topics, social media posts, parent
communications and lesson activities
5. Assist with event planning, coordination and production
6. (For qualified candidates, possibility of Assistant Teacher position in some
class locations.)
Qualifications
• BA or MA (in-progress is fine). Relevant focus (Education, Jewish Education,
Business Management, etc) preferred but not required.
• Successful candidate will be engaging and energetic- able to comfortably
communicate with both kids and parents in a professional manner
• Must have minimum 2 years experience working with children in an
educational, community center, or camp setting
• For fixed hours, must posses a remarkable ability to always be on time
• Applicant must possess knowledge of and interest in Jewish history, culture,
customs, and holidays.
• Hebrew proficiency not required but is a huge plus!

Location & Hours
This is a part-time, seasonal position, approx. 12- 15 hours per week. Some hours
are fixed, and the others can be flexible.
• Fixed hours (total 11 hours:
o Tuesdays (Williamsburg): 3:00 – 6:00 PM
o Wednesdays (Brooklyn Heights): 3:00 – 5:00 PM
o Thursdays (Ft Greene): 3:00 – 6:00 PM
o Sundays (Park Slop or Greenwich Village): 9:30 AM – 12:30 PM
• Remaining hours are flexible and can be “work from anywhere”
• Optional/ infrequent: weekday or weekend evenings for events
Position begins September 5, 2017 and goes until June 8, 2018. Potential to extend
role through summer 2018.
Compensation
$20 per hour
