seasons of the otherworlds – summer in the tower 🌹

the tower is one of my otherworldly workspaces, and the one i use most frequently. it functions as an ever changing wizards tower, overlooking elfame.

sight... when i enter i usually first look out the windows to see what is going on below me. in the summer there are frequent dancing banquets, as well as floral workings done by the gloaming folk. in the summer, dried flowers are strung above the windows. within the tower, i notice in the summer more botanicals hanging to dry, as well as shrines for aquatic spirits and for saints with summer feast days, such as saint john's feast day, mary's early summer feasts, or mary magdalene's feast day in july.
smell... when there are parties or events going on, there is usually an incense lit in the room when i enter. i'm pretty sure it is jasmine incense, but sometimes it might be rose. sometimes the outside of the tower manifests as an ocean, in which case standing at the windows will start to smell quite salty and perhaps briny. near the end of summer (july-august), dried garlic, onion, and corn begins to show up hanging from the ceiling, the first two giving off a significant allium scent.
taste... cooking in the tower significantly decreases in the summer, to avoid increasing the heat. i frequently find fresh edible day lilies collected in baskets during the summertime in the tower, which i will eat–they were my first forgeable, when i was 11 at a summer camp. recently there was a half watermelon left pristinely in the windowsill, which i had some bites out of–it was incredibly sweet, much more so than a typical watermelon.
sound... due to frequent gloaming dances, there is often music playing below. it is typically orchestral string instruments playing in a variety of styles, depending on the time of day. the tempo increases as the sun rises, and decreases as it sets, and typically ends before the next sunrise. there are also birds and bird-mammal combination animal spirits who chirp and call at the windows or near them, throughout all of the warm months. there is a red-winged blackbird (agelaius phoeniceus) living on my actual property, as well as within the tower, as i've identified.
feel... the heat persists in the otherworld, but it does not have the same physical effect on me as it does in the real world. my heart rate does not increase, i do not pant, i do not sweat as profusely as i would otherwise, and i generally feel fine. that is not to say that the heat is intangible, it is just extremely tolerable and not actually negatively affecting me. within the tower i always touch the dried herbs hanging above the workspace, sometimes on accident with my head. the working tools i utilize are also tangible here, but typically just consists of incense and a jug of water.
