So I painted this Heldrake and it was fun.

Can I make rainbows scary? I tried making rainbows scary.

Sending off 10th with a bang, here's a big beautiful boy. I'm fairly proud, but what an exhausting build! Not going to paint chaos for a while (just in time for Armageddon :)

Had this critter sitting in my folder for a while, decided to finish up some of the sketches and throw together a half-baked ref sheet hah Combo refpage, yapping and greyscale lineworks:

More heldrakes! This one based on the Xiphon interceptor. This specific one ends up with the False Ravens by accident, very "oops it followed me home ma what the heck do we do with it now" and it's been shoved into the mix with their warptalons, which have a similar enough disposition to get along with it to keep it entertained & have it refrain from shredding warband members. It's been put under raptor captian Vron's care, much to his utter dismay, hehehe I have some oldies somewhere based on other 40k vehicles I should finish... but my beef with the canon heldrake designs is that they just look like metal dragons. Which is cool, but doesn't visually story-tell the whole "pilot + daemon + fighter fusion" thing. (I think I've written about that before but I'll say it again!!)

This could go for daemon engines in general too, though there are some cool ones out there. It always delights me greatly to see people make weird custom designs of 'em. I get that you need standardization for tabletop-toy-production reasons, but I wanna see more variety and weirder designs for Chaos especially! (Fellow chaos & weird critter enthusiasts please feel free to send me stuff if you've seen any bangers, I'm not online enough these days to catch most things so I'm sure a lot of cool stuff out there is flying under my radar!)
