Maeda never understood how people could sleep on buses.

The metal was cold, and though he had done his best to clean up his face with some wipes from Tsurugi, he knew it wouldn’t do any good for his skin. But the game had been hard today, even if the other team couldn’t beat Maedas skill if he were blindfolded. He seemed to ache constantly, legs always sore, and on the field injuries growing more common as his skill grew and he became more of a threat. Sleep was some form of relief from the burning pain, but god was it impossible when every foot driven resulted in his head being jolted up and slammed down. Why Hopes Peak couldn’t afford anything better, and why they were still in a bus after dropping off his team would always be a mystery to-

And with that, our lovely soccer playing protag drifted off to sleep, laying his head down on the empty seat next to him for a bit more comfort.

It’s late at Hopes Peak Academy, most students starting to settle down for the night. Some start their nightly routines before bed, others start the coffee and boot up laptops, and those who remain clump together in laughing groups of Ultimates. Only one class is grouped together, and even then, freshman Class 79-B is missing two of it’s members. But the SHSL Clown, waiting by the window, announces the arrival of a school bus, and they all know how that’s about to change. While two members of the class stumble out with half-asleep legs, all fourteen others run up to the window, many waving and cheering, trying to get their classmates attention.

Maeda performed wonderfully, as they saw on the living rooms TV, and even the crueler students must admit that. He’s happy to see the silhouettes up in the windows, and waves back the best that his still half-asleep mind will let him. So the two SHSLs hurry on up, out of the cold to where their classmates await them. Maedas companion hollers at the group that they’ll be back after a quick, 5 minute shower, and so all eyes turn to Maeda. Everyone wants to congratulate him, or at least, will out of custom, and they all seem to have split off into small groups.

Maeda - Oh! They got food, that’ll be nice.

Maeda - I need to remember to pack more snacks for post-game, how do I keep forgetting that?
