Little Rituals

Not every rituals needs to be complex and long. This year, I've started a ritual of praying in the morning when I open my living room blinds. My prayer goes like this:

Good morning great gods and goddesses above, below, and in between. Good morning Zeus Good morning Sophrosyne Good morning Khione (etc for whoever I wish to greet) May you bless me this day, and may my actions honor you. Khaire!

It's not much, but a small daily reminder of the gods' presence in my life has brought a lot of meaning every day.

Online Ritual Event for Persephone

Deadline to Complete the Survey - March 1, 2021

I am organizing an online ritual event over Discord video call for the return of Persephone at the start of Spring. This will be open to anyone who worships Her or the Greek gods, whether you are practicing reconstructed, revival, or eclectic polytheism/paganism.

There will be two events:

Saturday March 20, 2021 Morning Time (TBD) Wednesday March 24, 2021 Evening Time (TBD)

A recorded version will be uploaded after the event for those who could not attend. The event will not require all participants to be on voice/video call unless you are directly participating in the ritual portion (reading a hymn/saying a prayer).

The goal for this event is not to guide, replace, or reform the private religious practice of any individual. What you do in your private practice will always be unique and separate from this event. Instead, our goal is to create a community group where we can come together to celebrate what we all have in common, worshiping the Greek pantheon.

It's not perfect yet. I want to hang the whit board and lower the shelf a bit. I use cards/images a lot on my altar, and wanted a better way to display them without having to damage them. I think this was a cool solution, a contemporary look!

I did buy a statue and saving up to buy more so I can't wait to see how it looks in the future.

The larger cards are the mythic oracle deck.

The small card and postcard of Artemis is the Asphdelon tarot deck (major arcana only). (I highly recommend this one!!)

Maybe it’s because I am so exhausted and my adderall has wore off but now I’m hyperfocused on the idea of online ritual groups for helpol.

The first day of spring is March 20. It’s a Saturday so I’d be unavailable due to work and most likely wouldn’t be able to do a group event until one of my days off - the follow Wed or Thurs 3/24 or 3/25.

Would anyone genuinely be interested in have a group Zoom event to celebrate Persephone on one of those dates? Make offerings together, make prayers or read hymns, talking about Persephone and her influence on us or anything we want to celebrate her. I usually include Demeter as well, and maybe Dionysus would be relevant as well but I like to keep the focus on Persephone for it!

It’d probably be in a USA timezone but anyone would be welcome. In order for the group to feel safe if someone isn’t somewhat established as helpol with their blog, I might want to do a pre-screening or something. I wouldn’t want someone to join in bad faith and ruin the event. Assuming I am leading it (since I’m “hosting” the event) I’d try to design it to be in a happy middle between recon and revival.

Happy Theogamia!

I know this holiday is to celebrate the marriage between Zeus and Hera but I am curious - how do other hellenic polytheist or people who worship the Greek gods feel about Zeus' other wives? Do you have a UPG about them and Hera?

From what I know Metis was his first wife, who he consumed, Themis was his second wife, who seemed to evolve from wife to advisor when Hera became his wife. I'd really love to research the historical development of this, not just the mythological, but I haven't looked far into it. Was it always believed he had 3 wives with Hera being his primary one, or did she develop as a goddess later on?
