Ok so what if you know how people tell their friends about their crushes and gossip about them...what if Cas did that too in his garrison and they were so done with him going on and on about Dean Winchester, they used to send him on every Winchester mission hoping evrytime that he would finally confess his love but nope . So the other angels who came in contact with him tried to do it for him ...you know uriel , balthazar yadayada and eventually word spread around among all supernatural beings including demons . You know those situations where you have a crush on someone and everyone except that one person knows about it but you just do not have the balls to go amd say it on their face . Or maybe they know about it but they are waiting for your approach which never comes and you both just waiting for a frigging eternity until finally one day one of you the bubble bursts but it's too late .
