top tips for growing/buying succulents?

This is a awesome question and I’ll probably end up writing an essay. In my opinion the two most important factors to growing succulents are sunlight and water. I personally have had the best color and growth with plants I have acclimated to full or partial sunlight but have witnessed many account where people’s succulents do best in bright but indirect sunlight. If you have the time and patience most succulents will acclimate to full or partial sun if gradually exposed, if you are unable to the best thing to do is to put your succulent in the brightest south facing window you have and alternate the succulent periodically to prevent leaning. Water is also a vital component to your succulents health. It’s a common misconception that succulents “don’t need much water”. During the summer is when you will have to water your succulents the most especially if they are outside in the sun, succulents need water during the growing season so you should water the soil when you can ensure the soil is bone dry. Never base your watering on a time schedule because things vary. When winter comes however and you bring your succulents inside you should stop watering and let your plants enter a state of “hibernation” almost. When it comes to buying succulents I recommend finding a local nursery where you can purchase new plants that haven’t been in the facility to long since most retail stores don’t maintain the succulents, I also really like the website http://www.cactuslimon.com they have super nice plants.
