Lyrics from Pesticides by Moselle
Rinn is my fave oc to give the horrors to. She's so little guy core. I scribbled the lines for this in about an hour in mspaint and then spent a week lovingly rendering it because I guess that's just who I am as a person.
The hand on the phone is the wrong way on purpose actually. she just holds her phone on the wrong side like a freak.
Lex Luthor (Smallville)- Chapter 7
"(Y/N). "
Your head lifts, and the sight of Jonathan is sort of what you expect. Clark doesn't know what happened between you and Lex, but he's aware it's not what you wanted. You've been a bit mopey the weeks following after, so you know this talk was coming. He'll probably come and drone on about how it was the right call. That getting involved with a Luthor was a mistake. That's not what you want or need to hear right now.
"Mr. Kent, I really don't want to talk. "
"I figured you wouldn't. So I brought someone you'd probably have an easier time with." You expect Clark, or Martha. But it isn't either of them. It's..
"Lex?"
He gives Jonathan a nod, and you aren't sure what's more crazy. The fact that apparently Jonathan and Lex are talking, or that he's still standing there and Jonathan hasn't burst into a ball of flames.
"I'll give you two some space." He sends you a smile, walking down the stairs of the loft.
"Since when are you and Mr. Kent buddies?" Lex merely chuckles.
"We had a talk. Would you believe it if I told you he was the one that called me." You really don't. "I can't imagine you guys having a whole lot to talk about."
"We do have one thing in common." You let out a laugh of disbelief.
"Yeah, and what's that?"
"We both care about you (Y/N)." you bite the inside of your cheek.
"You don't get to do that Lex." You want to run. Dash off so you won't have to deal with another rejection. In truth, it was foolish to get attached to him so quickly. You'd only known him a few months now. Your life was fine before he came into it. That's what you try to convince yourself of. But at the back of your mind you're happy that you met him. He's the one you've been waiting for. Its stupid.
"Maybe I am just a kid."
Your naive way of thinking should have been proof enough.
"I shouldn't have brushed off your feelings the way that I did."
"I'm over it, so you don't have to say anything else."
"I really do." He moves in, taking a seat right next to you.
"I've never been good at getting close to people. Most of the ones I've met in my life, they've always wanted something or the other. I guess I was used to it being a giving relationship. Clark, he's the first friend I've had that was honestly only ever interested in getting to know me. And you...you're the first woman who's ever looked at me with nothing but adoration in your eyes. "
You swallow. He's too close for you to deny anything that he says. Now that he's staring right at you, you know it's useless to act indifferent, he can see through it.
"I'm so sorry that I hurt your feelings. I guess I just wanted to be the one to walk away first. Because in the past, I'm always the one who got left behind." You want to reach out, hug him. Tell him that it's alright. Some things were more important than having a romantic relationship. Before he can learn to love, he needs to be able to trust. You should have understood that.
"I'm sorry Lex."
You had been acting just as selfish as he was. "I should have been more understanding of how you felt. I don't care if we stay friends. I just don't want to see that look on your face anymore. You're not alone. You have the kents, and me. "You take his hand, and Lex's eyes emit the warmth that you just love seeing. That hope, care, it was beautiful.
"I appreciate that (Y/N)." He squeezes your hand, and you can't stop your smile.
"Although, I think I wasn't fully clear about my intentions of coming here today." you raise a brow laughing softly. "I'm pretty sure you got your point across. "
He shifts a little closer and you lean back in surprise when he presses you into the couch.
"L-Lex.."
"I want much more than friendship from you, I think I've wanted it since the moment I saw you."
"B-But I..we..what if it doesn't-"
He presses a kiss to your lips, and it silences any resistance you prepared. You hum in content, and his hands even out at the sides of your body, pressing into the soft material of the couch.
"We can cross that bridge when we get there."
He doesn't want to waste anymore time second guessing his feelings. Especially the ones he has for you.
Right now, this feels right.
That's enough.
Lex Luthor (Smallville) Chapter 10
You’ve been beating around the bush since you decided to meet up with Clark today. He’s going on about something, but you can’t hear much. Finally gaining the courage, you blurt it out.
“Clark, I told him.”
“Told him?”
“I told Lex about my secret.”
You could see the change on his face.
“(Y/N)..”
“I know I know, I just felt bad okay. How can I expect him to be honest with me if I’m not honest with him?” You knew letting someone else in on such a secret was risky. With Clark he probably felt like he had to keep hiding who he was. Unlike you, he didn’t get his powers from an explosion, or the meteor shower.
“Don’t worry, I only told him about myself. Your secret is your choice Clark, no one else. Whenever you’re ready, you can tell him.” His shoulders seem to have relaxed more, and he sends you a smile.
“Well it’s Saturday, and I promised Lex I’d meet him at the Talon for coffee.”
“I’m glad you're happy (Y/N).”
"Thank you Clark."
You know more than anything, Clark is protective of you. So you're glad for his support. You know you’ve made the right call. After dealing with that issue, you’re heading to meet up with Lex. You get there, waiting, looking at your watch every few minutes at the time.
Usually he’d at least call if he wasn’t able to make it. But you hadn’t received a text or anything.
“Maybe he just forgot.”
He was a busy man, and you’d often caught him at his desk working when you visited. With a smile, you hold two cups of coffee in your hand. Why not just surprise him. You’re positive if he was consumed in some kind of work, he’d be grateful for the break.
Stepping into the mansion, you look around in confusion. There’s almost always three guards at the door. You didn’t like this. Increasing your steps, your eyes widen at the body you see on the floor. The drinks are tossed away and you run over, you check his pulse shakily. You let out a breath. It was a guard, thankfully he wasn’t dead, just unconscious. Pulling out your phone, you immediately start to dial.
“Put the phone down.” you freeze at the unknown voice.
“Drop it or I’ll drop you.”
“Okay, okay.” The item that’s pressed to your back is definitely a gun. You drop your phone and turn. The male isn’t someone you recognize. You eye him cautiously. Tall, dark hair, green eyes.
“Follow me.”
So you do. You take slow steps as he guides you into the main room of the mansion. The minute those double doors open, your heart drops. Lex is seated in his usual spot, but there is another man there with a gun of his own. The smile on the other man’s face is wide.
“Who do we have here?” He looks you over, and Lex’s body tense.
“Let her go, she’s just a maid.” The man next to him chuckles, pressing the gun to his head.
“Nice try, no way she’s just some maid.”
“John, stop playing around, we have business to do!” Your captor yells.
“Calm down Casey, let me have a little fun why don’t you. It’s not everyday we get to rob a billionaire. Especially Lex Luthor. Can you believe it?” John still has his gun pointed as he gestures to the computer laid in front of Lex.
“Get to it Luthor.”
“I’ll do this, but first you let her leave.”
“How stupid do you think I am. You really think I’ll let her go while we’re doing this.” You hear the click of his gun and you want to move, but the weapon is directly on Lex’s head. Even with your speed, you wouldn’t make it if he pulled the trigger. You know Lex’ recognizes that. It’s why you’re a little pissed that he’s trying so hard to get you out of there. He was the one in the most danger in this situation.
“Transfer the money Lex, or my friend here will put a bullet in your little girlfriend. “ Lex’s jaw is clenched.
“Alright.”
You really wish Clark was here, or you had some type of distraction. If you could just get him a few meters away from Lex you could easily take him. In this instance, you may have to be your own hero today.
“You must think we’re dumb too, like hell are you gonna just let us leave once you have the money. “ Lex’s eyes hardened at you. You know he’s against whatever it is you’re about to do.
“(Y/N)!!”
John laughs. “No, let her talk, what exactly do you think is gonna happen sweetheart’” He moves from his spot, trailing closer to you. Casey looks a bit pissed.
“Would you stop screwing around, get the money!”
“Wait, I want to hear this. “
Despite the rapid increase of your heart, you will yourself to keep going. “I’ve already seen your faces, and I know your name.” Your eyes stay firmly planted on him.
“That’s right, just a little closer. "
He watches you for a second, then looks back at Lex. “ Are you planning something?” You tense.
“N-No you dumbass, didn’t you hear me!” He paces back to Lex.
“Let’s see how big your mouth is gonna be now. You barely have time to process anything because he’s too close, way too close to Lex, and that’s when you hear the gunshot. Lex’s body hits the ground and your body has gone completely still. There’s blood.
So much blood.
“You...shot him. “
He’s now standing at a distance, laughing at Lex’s body on the floor.
“You never should have-” You aren’t sure why, but you suddenly feel weightless. The next few steps that you take, the man behind you is thrown back. His body hits the wall, and you hear a pained grunt. The one in front of you looks completely terrified.
“W-What the hell!” you're in front of him before he can fire his gun, He still takes a shot, but every bullet goes through your vibrating body, hitting the wall. When he runs out, he backs up, stricken with fear. You walk slowly, painfully slow, each step is like another taunt. You raise a hand, and it’s the only thing vibrating now.
“You killed him..” John’s back is against the wall, hands raised,
“L-Listen okay I’m sorry it wasn’t personal I was just-
“Not personal.”
You tilt your head, and his fear increases tenfold at the dangerous red glow that is now reflected in your eyes.
“This is personal.”
Your distorted voice echoes as you move to drive your palm right into his chest.
You halt when a hand grabs your wrist. You turn your head, teeth clenched tight.
“Lex..”
He’s standing upright, and his lower abdomen is stained with blood. You blink a few times, and you guess whatever had scared John so much is gone, because Lex wears a weak smile as he places a hand on your cheek.
“You’re not a killer, so stop...please…”
The pain is clear on his face. And the second you blink, he can no longer support himself. His body gives out and you rush forward, grabbing him as you slide to the floor. John is too afraid to move. Still terrified, possibly in shock from how close he’d come to being impaled.
You just stay there with his body partially on top of you as you cry, pressing your face into his neck.
Lex Luthor (Smallville)- Chapter 3
"Why are you avoiding me?"
You look up at Clark, a bit surprised. The library wasn't somewhere you thought you'd run into. You knew him well enough. He spent most of his time at the Talon.
"I-I'm not avoiding you."
The unsteady tone doesn't really help your case. The fact that he's asking the question, it's clear Lex hasn't said anything to him.
"Tell me the truth (Y/N)." You swallow, hands shaking slightly.
"I'm sorry Clark." The look you send makes him move to your side immediately. "What happened, did someone hurt you!" He looks alarmed just at the thought. You shake your head, and he takes your hand.
"When I went to Lex we were finishing the video and his father walked in. Mr. Luthor just said some stuff and I sort of..well I ran. H-He didn't even threaten me, it's just that look that he wore like he knew about me. Clark he knew my name, what if he knows about my abilities and he-” Clark pulls you to his side.
"I won't let anything happen to you, I promise. Don't worry about Lionel, knowing Lex's he probably thinks the same." you swallow. That all happened about a week ago. You hadn't spoken to Lex since. You've been ignoring his texts. Now the regret settles.
"Clark, there's something I have to go do." You don't clarify what it is, and Clark doesn't press. He just gives you an encouraging smile.
"Okay."
For now though, you feel protected being here with him.
~~~~
The trip you have to make lays a bit heavy on your heart. This is the second time you've been to the mansion, except this time you're more anxious than anything. You walk down the halls, and the closer you get to the door, the sweatier your palms get. You stop at the door, just staring ahead. You're not sure whether to walk in or turn around and run.
"I take it you're not standing there because you're a fan of mahogany."
Lex's voice startles you, and it dawns on you that you were so distracted that you didn't even hear him walk up to you.
"L-Lex." you turn to him, and the anxiety increases. He steps forward, pushing the door opening for you. You walk inside, and he follows behind. He makes his way to the desk, and you stand in front of him, fidgeting. How do you go about your apology. You had it all scripted in your head, but now it feels like you can't remember a thing.
"I came here because well, I'm sure you know why I just thought I should tell you to your face. You know because I was..I didn't.." you're stumbling over your words.
"You don't have to apologize, you got scared. I understand. "
You still feel horrible.
"(Y/N), I need you to know that I'd never let anyone hurt you. I know how much Clark cares about you, and you're my friend. There's no way I'd let my father hurt you. I promise. " you smile up at him.
"Clark said the same thing, did you guys rehearse that. " you say jokingly.
"Maybe." you laugh, and it brings a smile to Lex's face.
"I wish I was more like Clark." you speak with a sigh. He would have never run away. Knowing Clark he would have stood up to Lionel.
"Don't beat yourself up. My dad can be intimidating, among other things. I'm sorry that you felt so scared that you had to run."
He turns his back, there's no doubt guilt on his face. "You aren't the only one who envies Clark's strength. His ability to see the best in everything, everyone.."
The way he says it, it's like he's referring to himself. In some sad way you get what he's trying to convey. He doubts himself, and it's all because of the Luthor name. He doesn't have the luxury of making mistakes or showing weakness. Because he's constantly being scrutinized by those around him.
"Clark isn't the only one with a heart you know." You move in, and Lex turns slowly. "Lex, at the end of the day, you're human. The very fact that you're here beating up yourself for something you didn't even do should be proof enough. You're a good man, regardless of what anyone thinks or says. So how about you cut yourself some slack, hmmm."
Whenever Lex smiles, it feels like the best thing ever. The one he wears now, well it makes you happy. You haven't seen that glimmer in his eyes in a while. One week felt like such a long time. Maybe it's because you'd gotten so used to him being around.
"Thank you (Y/N)." your brows knit.
"For what?"
"For giving me another chance. "
"Lex.."
He spends so long seeking validation that maybe friendship, honest friendship is still a bit foreign to him.
You just settle for a nod.
"You're welcome."
Lex Luthor (Smallville)- Chapter 5
After the ordeal, you're presenting your discovery to the kents. Jonathan is standing next to the counter, and Martha looks concerned. None of them have been able to figure out just what happened. With Clark's abilities, they've always been at a disadvantage, so it hurts that they can do so very little for you.
"What triggered it, what were you doing before?" Clark suggests backtracking. So you try.
"Before..." The memory that returns makes you immediately blush. All the kents on now watching you are intrigued.
"(Y/N)?" Clark inquires.
"Nothing! I wasn't doing anything!" you deny.
"It doesn't sound that way." Martha says.
"Did something happen with you and Lex, he looked pretty guilty when he told us you rushed off. " The mention of his name triggered a negative response from Jonathan.
You know it's stupid to lie to them, especially Clark. If they don't know the reason then they won't be able to help you control it, and you're not really trying to get that way again. Your shoulder slump in defeat.
"I was..kissing Lex."
To say they didn't expect that was probably an understatement. Clark had been there when you got stuck under the mistletoe, but he didn't think much of it. Chloe was just trying to have a little fun. The fact that you'd share a kiss with Lex outside of that was..surprising.
"Excuse me!!" Jonathan looks like he's about to blow.
"That bastard!" You know what's about to happen. Jonathan has morphed into his protective mode. You don't want him tearing down Lex for a decision you made.
"Mr. Kent it's not like that I-I wanted him too!" you admit.
"I-I'm eighteen Mr. Kent, I know you care about me, but I'm old enough to make my own choices. Lex didn't force himself on me." This was never how you thought you'd be expressing your feelings. Martha looks at you with understanding. "We just want what's best for you honey." Clark hasn't really said much. You figure he doesn't have a proper response to the information. You feel a bit annoyed at how the evening has turned out.
"I'm going to head home. I need some time to think." Clark has finally tuned back in, but you're already gone. " Clark sighs. He feels stupid for not noticing before.
"Did you really not see it?" Martha questioned.
"I had no idea," he states. Jonathan still looks partially pissed.
"I don't like this. "He's never shy about his dislike for the luthors.
"It's not up to us." Clark realizes. Whether they support it or not, it was your choice, they couldn't intervene.
~~~~~~
It's a challenge to face Lex, but you know you have to. He needs to know that nothing he's done is unwanted. You'd just been dealing with a different situation. So the second you walk through the doors of his mansion , you expect the unease you see on his face. He looks unsure of what to say. You see him stand from his desk, almost like he's been anticipating your visit. "I suppose you were waiting for me." He looks you over, as if scanning for an injury. Clark had filled him in on, and you guess he made his own assumptions, possibly rushing to the worst case scenario.
"Lex.. I really didn't mean to run out on you like that. I feel like I do that a lot around you."
"I'm starting to think it has something to do with me. " He pulls his hands out of his pockets.
"Listen, I realize I must have crossed a line and I want you to know that I won't touch you again. It was wrong of me to do that. "
"You didn't cross a line Lex." you fidget a little. "That kiss did catch me off guard but I..I liked it. I wanted it. You didn't force me into anything."
Hell, he loved it. More than anything. It wasn't just the kiss, but the way you looked at him, kind of like how you were looking at him now. He ran a hand over his head. He was torn. Technically you were legal, but it still felt wrong. You were in high school. A senior, but still.
"My position in this situation isn't that great. I can only imagine what Mr. Kent would think if he finds out."
"Ummm.." Maybe you should have discussed it more with Lex before spilling the beans.
"You told him?"
"I'm sorry, they were freaking out when I ran off and well it kind of slipped." He lets out a little laugh, shaking his head. "Well, his opinion of me wasn't that great to begin with, so I don't think you did much damage. " You step closer, and Lex takes one step back. "(Y/N).." you stop.
"I..I think it would be best if we just remain friends. "
You look at him as if he's crazy. Was he really pulling the friendship card?
"Are you..being serious right now."
"I'm sorry." you gulp. Suddenly you feel foolish, not just for coming over, but making known your feelings for him, only to be rejected. You try not to let it show how it hurts, instead you nod.
"You're probably right. It wouldn't have worked out anyway."
That's a low blow, but you feel pathetic. So without much else, you make a turn to leave. You're hoping that he'll stop you and say that he's wrong. That he's just scared and wants to at least try. But he doesn't. He just lets you leave.
Alone.
