The Life They Deserved to Live
I am currently writing a fanfic called The Life They Deserved to Live (tltdl). In this fanfic, Tonks is at school with the Marauders! Wildly AU, I know. The story is on ao3 and HPFF. The first few chapters are set during their first and second years, just the key events. We then go into their fifth year, and I hope that I will continue to write for as long as I have envisioned. (a long way). I would deeply appreciate it if you would check it out! Thank you so much! https://archiveofourown.org/works/30444117/chapters/75065142
Calling Coaches
Alex was sipping on coffee, going through the various sketches he’d done for flyers and finding flaws in each of them. This idea was possibly a bit mad, but most of Alex’s time was taken up by mad schemes of some sort of another. The bakery kept him busy, sure, as did worrying about his husband and coordinating desperately so he and Alastor could have a day off together every once and a while, but the truth was that unless Alex was spreading himself thin, he was bored.
He and Hestia Hones had met coaching Little League quidditch a bit outside the city, and with the ban on mass gatherings in place her job was put on hold, meaning she had more time than ever on her hands. It was she that he was conducting this hairbrained scheme of putting toddlers on brooms with, and he’d already grabbed a little corner table at the coffee shop in anticipation of her arrival.

Alice Prewett had fully anticipated spending her final full weekend as a Prewett doing nothing but finishing details for the wedding, but her friends clearly had other intentions for her. Though she’d considered staying the weekend at Frank’s, and what would soon be her flat, Hestia had lured her in with wine and cookies and one last weekend being together. And really, considering how she was so abruptly leaving her best friend to take over their home on her own, how could Alice refuse her anything?
Friday night had gone so lovely, night curled up in their living room, going over old memories, getting lightly buzzed, and munching on snacks until, curled up together on the floor, they fell asleep.
Waking up, Alice had anticipated a day of packing and cleaning perhaps. Instead, Hestia and herself made a spot of breakfast, and her dearest friend ushered her out for an errand of sorts.
Hestia stamped her foot.
"I don't CARE what paper you're writing for! I don't give a DAMN! That is my friend, she has just gone through a terrible ordeal, and she needs rest. You will stop harassing her NOW!"
Rita stared, both penciled eyebrows raised, down at the other witch, completely surprised - she had Hestia pegged as the patient, slow-to-anger sort.
After a short, frozen pause, Rita smiled brightly:
"How about just a quick photoshoot, then?"
"ALRIGHT, THAT'S IT! Avis! Oppugno!"
Rita yelped and backed away rapidly as a flock of nightingales burst out of Hestia's wand and began attacking her like an aggressive swarm of oversized bees... for a moment, quite forgetting her wand, Rita swiped at the furious, jabbering birds with her hands.
"Geroff me! Geroff me! Ah! Finite! Finite! EVANESCO!"
Brandishing her wand like she was trying to hail a helicopter, Rita finally cast a spell that vanished some of the birds - then her heels were in the air as she fell over backwards - she had backed so far out of the room they'd been in that she'd tripped over a potted plant in the hall outside and knocked into the bookcase behind it.
A cascade of heavy tombs fell on top of the reporter; then the bookcase itself, as if in slow motion, followed. There was a loud thump, a squawk and then silence.
Hestia, eyes wide, slowly uncovered her mouth.
"Oh no!"

Occupation: Healer in training
Former Hogwarts House: Hufflepuff.
Aesthetics: black and white photos, rosy cheeks, the smell of old books, sunlight coming in, always offering a helping hand, voice as sweet as honey.
Post-Hogwarts Bio:
It could be said that, even before finishing her studies at Hogwarts, Hestia Jones already felt completely lost. The school had been her true home: the place where she built lifelong friendships and found refuge from an extremely troubled family.
After much reflection, she decided to pursue a career as a healer. With attacks becoming more frequent and war looming on the horizon, Hestia chose to turn her gift and passion for healing into a way to do good and help shape a better future.
She now lives alone in an apartment purchased by her mother—the same mother who had ignored her since the age of ten. Living alone, however, awakens old anxieties that have always haunted her: the fear of loneliness.
Hestia has never liked spending too much time by herself. The lack of daily interaction with friends, so present during her years at Hogwarts, often leaves her feeling anxious—and at times even depressed.

“You ever wonder how they determine the size of glass to serve based on the drink?” said Nash as he stared through his lowball glass at the dragon’s fire cocktail he had ordered. “Who decided martinis should have their own glass and margaritas another?”

Alice sighed as she flipped between paperwork. Although she hadn't been officially put on the case, Alice had been spending her lunch breaks pouring over the notes of Benjy's attack. She understood why she hadn't be put up as the main Auror, she was too close it, there would be too many emotions complicating things, but that didn't mean she couldn't still keep with the updated and help wherever she could. It was about the only thing she could do for Benjy right. Alice was concerned they hadn't tracked down a suspect yet, it probably meant that whatever vampire had done this was unregistered. If that was true, then they may never find that. Alice didn't even want to think about that, one of her closest friends was fighting for his life in hospital, there had to be justice for that. Alice looked up as she heard footsteps, smiling as Hestia walked in and passed her a cup of tea. "Did I really look that stressed out" Alice joked. "Thank you" she added.
