my absolute FAVORITE part of any fic is sonya teasing the fuck out of yelena the moment she finds out blondie’s head over heels for kate pain in the ass bishop. pure gold. it works every time for me.
i know people don’t care to hear my opinions, but i needed to put this out somewhere and twitter is carnage. it’s like sending death threats to yourself every time you tweet. anyhow, i would just like to express my disbelief at people’s chosen ignorance. the creator of yelena’s character has clearly said before that yelena’s sexuality in the comics is unconfirmed. and that is only the comics. as proven many times by the mcu, the comics are not the same as the movies. people are analysing every small detail and claiming that yelena is aroace in canon, when nothing has been confirmed by any of the directors, writers or producers. don’t get me wrong, feel free to headcanon anyone by what ever sexuality or gender pleases you, i have no objection to that whatsoever. i am a member of the lgbtq community. but people being rude and shutting down other’s opinions on something that isn’t even confirmed? nah, that’s just not it.
moving on to that one comic panel, where yelena says “no, im not anything” or something along the lines of that. given the context of how yelena grew up, this could refer to how she feels empty inside. to be honest, when i read that panel, instead of taking aroace from that i took unlabelled, because i just related to it so much and i don’t identify as anything, per say. however, that is just my headcanon, as her sexuality isn’t confirmed in canon.
anyways, everyone is entitled to their own opinions, but hurting others for something that isn’t confirmed in canon is wrong, and people need to realise that. sure, having aroace representation in marvel would be amazing, but so would it be to have any lgbt representation. i am not trying to erase aroace identity at all. i’m just saying, don’t attack others for something that isn’t confirmed in canon, it isn’t nice.

I have had undercurrents of wanting to work with a dsmp superhero au, but i don’t want it to be the classic spiderinnit au, diapson has already done an amazing job with that. i really want to write something with the vibe, without it being the same as SpiderInnit or Team Spider. hopefully yall know exactly wtf i’m talking about. i’ve already got some notes down for an adoption type au- sleepy bois ofc- and by “some” i mean a large google doc with two seperate google sheets. so, the question i’m asking is- what powers and plot can i give so that its superhero but not spiderinnit?

Okay guys, so… I have a working theory about Patronuses. So as we know, sometimes a person might have their Patronus take shape to reflect the Patronus of (or connection to) a loved one. Examples of this include:
Severus Snape - His Patronus takes the form of a doe, clearly (imo) meant to signify Lily Evans Potter, his childhood best friend who he was hinted to have romantic feelings towards.
Harry Potter - His Patronus takes the form of a stag, the animagus form of his father, James Potter, who Harry never knew.
Nymphadora Tonks - Her Patronus takes the form of a wolf, having changed from her original form (I believe it was a jackrabbit?) to reflect the Patronus of Remus Lupin, strongly connected to wolves since he’s a werewolf and all.
Lots of people like to say that Snape’s Patronus is based solely on obsession and has nothing to do with love and that James is clearly a superior partner for Lily since their Patronuses ‘match.’ Not even touching on whether or not James and Lily’s Patronuses do match or the fact that James should be considered the best partner for Lily based on merit or her own desires and not some arbitrary Patronus conditions… This theory clearly holds no water when you consider that Harry and Tonks are not ‘purely obsession based with no love at all.’
(To clarify, I do think that Snape’s connection to Lily was unhealthy - although I hesitate to call it an obsession - but that doesn’t mean he didn’t love her or that the love he had for her was selfish or based in sexual desire or ‘creepy’ or ‘incel’ behavior. I also think that Harry’s feelings surrounding his parents and especially his father was a little unhealthy, lol, and no one is accusing him of having a purely selfish based love.)
But, that’s besides the point. Now, the theory that Snape’s Patronus only changed because he was creepy or obsessed or ‘connected, but not a good partner’ doesn’t hold up. But obviously there is something different here, because not everyone’s Patronuses change shape. Notably, Harry has a deep love and connection for his best friends Ron and Hermione, and JK Rowling definitely intended him and Ginny to be wholly in love (as he’s about to be murdered by Voldemort, he thinks specifically of ‘her blazing look,’) and yet his Patronus never changes for them. On top of that, Sirius has a deep love for his long dead best friend James, yet his Patronus doesn’t change, and Ron and Hermione are in love with each other as well, and their Patronuses don’t change. So what’s my theory?
That Patronuses only change when someone is longing for more of a connection, when what they desire (close friendships, romances, parental affection) is outside of their grasp, when their love is linked with longing and pain. I mean, think about it, the only three people who we know had a Patronus that took a specific form that represented another person, at the time that we see them conjure, all could not have that person that they loved.
Lily and Snape and Harry and James are obvious in this case. Snape’s friendship with Lily was already severed long before she died, but that nail in the coffin (unintentional joke) helped drive Snape in fighting against Voldemort for almost two decades, while he lived a very lonely and secretive life as a spy that likely prevented him from getting truly close to anyone but Dumbledore. It’s natural he’d cling onto the memory of his first friend and one of the few people to ever treat him with kindness or try to stand up for him (however brief.) Harry obviously longed for a connection with his family (Mirror of Erised) and clung onto his parents, getting defensive of them and wanting to believe the best in the them to the point where realizing his father had been a terrible bully in school fucked him up pretty badly. His parents are clearly important to him and strongly impact him, which we see in moments like the graveyard in book four, when Harry is running from Voldemort and then decides that if he’s going to die, he’s going to do it on his feet and head on ‘like his father.’
Tonks seems a little trickier, because Remus was still alive and orbited the same places she frequented, but he was pointedly ignoring her and rejecting all advances, seeming to refuse to even interact with her due to his being a werewolf and seeing himself as dangerous. This was literally helping drive Tonks into a depression and impacting her Metamorphagi magic, and she seemed to be floundering enough anyway after Sirius’s death. It’s natural she would cling to a connection to help get her through, that she would feel like Remus’ love and expressing her own love was out of reach and impossible, and that loving Remus would literally be painful to her.
Anyway, that’s my working theory for now. Not that I think JKR had a reason for some people’s Patronuses changing and others’ not changing, this is just the way I think I can rationalize it for myself. Let me know what you guys think!
But another this with Tonks is that, yes, Remus was still alive during HBP but he was basically on a suicide mission. We read that the conditions were terrible in the underground and it was really dangerous if Remus got caught, especially since he was close to Greyback. So I think that that’s the reason Tonks’s Patronus changed- more out of fear for the man she loved than because he didn’t want to be with her. And her refusing to go to the Burrow at Christmas (with knowledge Remus would be there either from the Order or Molly) and choosing not to make it awkward and uncomfortable for Remus when that was literally the only time he could have some good food and a warm bed just shows that she didn’t go after him the entire year and wanting to make him see sense, but that she only ever wanted him to be safe.
So yeah, I think overall she’s wouldn’t be as depressed had she knew Remus was safe and healthy. But she didn’t know how he was doing, if he was even alive at all, and we see that when we see how worried she was when there was news of a werewolf being attacked.
One of the best theories out there. My jaw literally dropped at these. I have another post on another theory about patronus changing, which sort of fits into this. Tonks’ patronus changed because Remus was no longer being the wolf, he wasn’t chasing, it was now her job to pursue their love, if that makes sense. Because, in a way, their patronuses before did match! Wolves hunt jack rabbits!

This lovely little design is a part of a shop with only 11 designs -- and no less than six out of eleven are 'X Against Remadora'. The original designer, it seems, was willfully ignoring the fact that there are many folks who are a part of X group who also ship Remadora. Or perhaps they simply lack any real design talent. Not a great look, either way.
The worst part? This is one of the top results when you search 'Remadora' on Redbubble. What a fucking violation.
Yeah, yeah. Y'all go hard for queer folks until they have a preference you disagree with. Imagine the absolute outrage if this was the other way around -- if someone had made a 'X Against Wolfstar' design.

Fandom, I was wondering...why were Remus and Tonks taking a nap in the middle of the BoH? Seeing as they survived, I thought I might write something the day after the anniversary. Not set then, though.
‘Teddy? Are you in there?’ Remus called through a locked bathroom door. He was pretty sure his son was in there, seeing as the only other inhabitant of the Lupin household was in the kitchen, making pancakes. ‘Teddy?’
‘I’m coming, Dad!’ A slightly aggravated voice came back through the door.
‘Alright, hurry up! We have to be at King’s Cross in half an hour!’
‘I know!’ Remus wondered why his son was being so snappy, especially on this special day. He remembered his first train ride to Hogwarts, and how it had changed his life, meeting the Marauders. Remus had been absolutely terrified at the prospect of boarding a train to go to school for months at a time. However, he had had his “furry little problem” to deal with.
‘Hey, Dora?’ Remus said as he entered the kitchen.
‘Yep?’ Tonks was busy at the stove, not bothering to turn around.
‘D’you know why Teddy’s being snappish?’ He asked. At this, Tonks turned around and studied him.
‘Well...I might have a suspicion,’ She said slowly. ‘When I started at Hogwarts, I was dead worried about what to do with my appearance, and perhaps it’s the same for Teddy? He does use anger to deflect worry...’
‘Yes, he does...’ Remus mused as he moved around the kitchen table to help with the breakfast. ‘Just like someone else I know,’ and he pressed a kiss to her cheek.
‘Really, Dad?!’ A voice from behind them sounded. Remus turned to see his son take a seat at the table.
‘Really, Edward?!’ Tonks said as she laid a plate down in front of Teddy.
‘Son, why’s your hair black?’ Remus asked. In contrast to Teddy’s normal hair colours, this was a big change.
‘Is there something wrong with having my normal hair colour?’ Teddy snapped.
‘Teddy, watch how you talk to your father!’ Tonks warned.
‘Sorry.’

When they arrived at the platform, Remus loaded Teddy’s trolly and the family strolled into King’s Cross Station. ‘Okay, Teddy, let’s go through the barrier!’
Teddy grabbed his father’s sleeve, and together they ran at the barrier between platforms nine and ten. Teddy shut his eyes just as they reached the barrier, for fear of crashing. However, the crash never came, and when Teddy opened his eyes, he was standing in front of a large scarlet steam engine.
‘Woah, that’s the Hogwarts Express...’ Teddy said in awe.
‘Indeed it is,’ said Remus. He turned to greet his wife as she came through moments later, accompanied by a young man with scruffy black hair and sharp green eyes peering through round glasses. A faded scar resided on his forehead, the lightning bolt a reminder of his childhood.
‘Harry!’ Remus said, and he pulled the younger man into an embrace.
‘Good to see you again, Remus! Even though I see you every Friday! Can’t be like that now though, with you and Teddy at Hogwarts! Where is he?’ Harry asked.
‘Uncle Harry!’ Teddy flung his arms around his godfather. ‘I knew you’d come!’
‘Hey, Ted! What’s up with the hair?’ Remus and Tonks grimaced, expecting a snappy response, but Teddy only beckoned Harry down, and whispered into his ear. After a few moments, Harry nodded sagely, and with an apologetic look at Remus and Tonks, steered their son away from them. Remus watched as Harry bent down to Teddy’s height. The black haired boy who so reminded Remus of his father looked Teddy in the eyes, and began speaking to him in a low tone.
Slowly, the normal turquoise seeped back into Teddy’s hair, and Remus smiled, wrapping his arm around Dora’s waist. ‘Miracles what Harry can do, eh?’
‘Indeed. I wonder where he gets his ability to cheer people up from?’ Tonks replied.
‘Sometimes I do wonder...’
‘It’s you, silly! You always have your chocolatey ways to set examples for Harry!’
‘I guess so...’

The small family (plus Harry) waved Teddy off, and as the train chugged out of the station, Remus turned to Harry.
‘What did you tell Teddy that changed his mind about his hair? What was going on with him?’
‘Oh,’ Harry smiled, ‘He was worried about the Sorting. He didn’t want to disappoint either of you, but he wanted to sport the “house colour hair”. I think he was also afraid of being judged.’
Tonks and Remus nodded, understanding their son’s odd behaviour. ‘Well, what did you tell him?’ Tonks pressed.
‘I told him the Sorting Hat will know what’s best, but that it does take his choice into account. All he had to do was be himself.’
‘Really, Harry! You have a way with words and children, it’s a wonder you aren’t a teacher!’ Remus said.
‘No, that’s your job, Remus. I’ll take over when you become headmaster!’ Harry smiled. ‘Besides, I’m not having much luck with getting James changed!’
Remus snorted at Harry’s first comment, and smiled at his second. ‘Well, Dora and I had trouble getting his hair done, so it seems that the boys don’t much like listening to their parents!’
‘Well, there is no surprise there! Look at you two, a Marauder and a Marauder’s son, wondering why your children are rebellious!’ Tonks said.
They all laughed, before they apparated to Hogsmeade together. Time for a visit to the Three Broomstick’s before the Sorting.
I just thought that I ought to let all of the people following my story know, that the next chapter will be out on ao3 tomorrow morning. It’s slightly shorter, but has great content! (I hope). :)
