Thoughts on Guard Dog AU?

I am a simple person with simple needs. And one of those needs is to consume content so disgustingly angsty and miserable that it leaves me sobbing on the floor. Guard Dog is pretty good at meeting that : )
That said, of all the AUs out there, I'd stick this one in the "self-indulgent" box for me. Largely because it usually demands all of prison trio do things that juxtapose important parts of their character. Dream would never give up the book. Sam would never let Dream leave the prison. Quackity would never choose to keep Dream around after getting what he wanted. Generally, anyway... But hey that's the point of AUs! So I enjoy it. But I'd have a hard time writing it myself.
I also try not to get too excited about it or other things with as much dehumanization on main, since I've had people express discomfort about it before and eehhh TvT
