Howard hamlin seriously got the worst end of the stick in BCS. Everyone else has some sort of moral ambiguity to them but Howard’s just been suckered into a life he didnt want and consistently tries to do right by people even to his own detriment. He admits that he always wanted more and respects kim for going for what she wanted because he never had the opportunity to- he was pressured by his father into becoming the second H to HHM. When chuck prevents jimmy from being hired Howard takes the fall for chuck and accepts all of jimmy’s resentment just to protect their relationship. He liked jimmy, and respected his work ethic, but was pressured by his father’s partner who made the firm to keep him out. Everything he does against jimmy in the beginning is out of obligation to chuck, and even when chuck betrays howard by suing the firm howard literally buys him out with his personal savings and loans (at his own financial detriment!) to protect the image of everyone. Poor guy was already depressed and just trying to live life and didnt deserve the end he got even if he was Kind Of Rude Sometimes
Finally got around to watching Better Call Saul after rewatching Breaking Bad for the 4th time.
SPOILER WARNING- don't read beyond this point if you've not watched it lol
Howard Hamlin's death genuinely bothers me. I have never been so affected and hurt by any TV show death like this. I had to pause the episode and HEAVE for air. I've been thinking about it for days.
His last words being "I think I'm in the middle of something" are so poetically tragic. He knew Jimmy and Kim were sleazy, but he had no idea the shit they were in. He wasn't innocent, but he was.
I always thought better call Saul was like, a Saul spin off so I put off watching it for so long, but Maaan was I wrong. I'm so glad I watched it.
Howard's death by far is the saddest in the entire BCS/BRBA universe for me.
i LOVE that saul is overweight in breaking bad and isn't in bcs. its so good
(can be spoilers for bcs?? im on like s4 of brba so no spoilers)
i think it really fits his character because of how much utter shit 'jimmy mcgill' went through, e.g kim divorcing him, howard dying, chuck dying ect. ect. i think it really makes sense for saul to be over weight and balding from then because of the stress and its a nice detail — though not intentional 😭
