Tea and Troubles

@higgsburyscience continued from here. 

Kit smiled back softly. “Tea is never any trouble. In my experience, it tends to solve troubles.” A thought seemed to strike her. “Except, I suppose, in cases of poisoning. But that’s hardly relevant.” 

She immediately busied herself with making two cups. Drilled in by habit, the thought of sweetening the tea never even crossed her mind. So the steaming liquid she brought back to Higgsbury was as bitter as a winter wind. 

Kit sipped from her own cup. “There is a proverb that says a burden shared is a burden halved. Patently false, of course, merely telling someone a problem does little to solve it. But it can feel as if the weight of the darkness has lifted. So- what’s keeping you up tonight?”

 “Are you certain?” Wilson’s pale grey eyes were darting anxiously, and he pressed himself more against the wall, uncertain whether to try and relax accordingly or to prepare himself for a fight against his perceived assailants.

 “What if they’re still out there?” He asked in a whisper.

“I would know if they were. It’s my job to kn-” Dewey paused to listen, suddenly thinking he heard someone approaching. But no. It was only the sound of a night watchman passing casually by, whistling all the while. “Okay, so I don’t know for certain, but I do know for near-certain, and those aren’t bad statistics.”

The small spider boy wandered about the grassy plain of the island as he spoke to himself, trying to plan ahead. "Hm... Mama isn't anywhere.... our spider friend is missing too.... What do we do...? I guess all I can do right now is find some food and make a cozy fire ..." He mumbled, gently touching the little crown atop his head and smiling as the cheery mood settled back upon the boy. He turned to go the opposite way before pausing, thinking he had seen someone new. "...Hello?"

@higgsburyscience Wes hesitated, taking a moment to think it over. He did want Wilson to tell WX-78 off for messing with his machinery, mainly because he himself couldn't, but he wasn't sure where they might find the automaton. However, Wes soon recalled that one particular WX that he knew had a tendency to climb trees. Maybe they were in the forest? Wes gestured to the trees just a short ways away from his camp, then shrugged.
