Does Testosterone Aid Aging Men
Testosterone levels for men generally reach their peak during adolescence and early adulthood. However, as men age, these levels will gradually decline over time. In fact, they usually decrease about 1% each year after the age of 30 or 40. For older men, it’s important to determine whether the lowered levels are due to the natural aging process, or if it’s caused by a disease such as hypothyroidism. If the issue is caused by natural changes that occur during aging, it may be a good idea to begin looking into a testosterone booster for men.
I just received my blood tests back and my levels are higher than the ideal range (14 and 32). We upped my dose recently since even after 9 months and increasing my dose frequency once already, I still was below the ideal range. I really would rather not lower the dose again since this is the first time Ive had my levels around where theyre meant to be. What possible side effects can happen from T being too high? Is this high enough to likely be a problem? Still waiting to hear back from Seal.
Dr Seal is best-placed to advise, but my understanding is that if your levels are only a little higher than the recommendations, and your other bloods are otherwise ok (in particular your RBC/liver tests) then they might consider leaving things as they are, and just keeping an eye on the results.
I gather the main issue with high testosterone is the potential for polycythaemia (basically your blood getting thicker), as well as cholesterol and liver problems. Ongoing blood tests would be needed to check whether these are becoming problems, and your dose might need to be adjusted again if so - but again, Dr Seal will be able to advise!

(urgent?) I just got my blood test results - in prep for my 6th month review with Lorimer this friday - back and I'm really confused by the testosterone levels? They've come back as ">52.0 nmol/L" which seems, like, really high to me? I don't know if maybe I've misunderstood the normal range, but I was wondering if anyone could tell be a) if this IS really high, and b) what changes are likely to be made to my T dosage? I’m afraid this response might be irrelevant for you, as presumably you’ve had your review with Dr Lorimer now! I’ll respond for the benefit of others who might be in a similar situation, though:
>52 is high, yes. You don’t mention which type of testosterone you’re on, but as a very rough estimate they normally want your testosterone levels to be between 10 and 30 nmol/L (there are narrower ranges for specific types of testosterone).
What type of testosterone you’re on will also determine what they do with your dose. If you’re on gel, you might be asked to reduce the amount you apply each day. If on Sustanon, you might be asked to inject less (e.g. 0.8ml every 4 weeks instead of 1ml), and if on Nebido they might want you to have injections a week or two further apart.
