Red Maze

I opened the maze door with that stranger following behind me and was sucked in. II passed out and awoke after being asleep for quite a while. Or at least that’s what the stranger told me. My surrounding were different. The walls were a horrifying shade of red and dismembered body parts lay on the floor. I stared up at the sky. Pitch black. There was nothing. “Well Dreamer? Shall we delve deeper?” I didn’t want to. I looked back and saw that there was no door. There was only a stairway. A stairway that led up. I saw my chance and took it bolting up the stairway and to whatever lied above. That’s when I arrived back in white space. Except this time. This time there was a new door. A white door that seemed to cast a faint shadow.

Hikikomori (ひきこもり or 引き籠もり)

As many as a million young people in Japan are thought to remain holed up in their homes - sometimes for decades at a time.

In Japan, hikikomori, a term that's also used to describe the young people who withdraw, is a word that everyone knows.

“They are tormented in the mind. They want to go out in the world, they want to make friends or lovers, but they can't.”

“I had all kinds of negative emotions inside me. The desire to go outside, anger towards society and my parents, sadness about having this condition, fear about what would happen in the future, and jealousy towards the people who were leading normal lives.”
