Summary:

Back when Robin was in high school, Steve Harrington was just some obnoxious jerk who couldn’t keep his bagel crumbs to himself in history class. Now, unbelievably, he’s both her best friend and the next star of The Bachelor. It starts as a joke, the idea that she’ll pretend to be one of the contestants so she can suss out his options for him, but when the time comes, she finds herself actually going undercover. The producers agreed to give them one night only, but Robin is pretty sure that’ll be enough to get at least a basic sense of all his potential future fiancées — or at least it would be if she could just stop losing track of time while talking to Chrissy Cunningham, a fellow contestant who somehow manages to be so much more than just the reality TV cliché of a beautiful girl with a sad backstory.

Ha! Okay so basically the whole thing came from me being like "but HOW in the 80s do they end up in this situation, since it was pre-internet, and pre a lot of this stuff being easily accessible" and I finally decided that Chrissy and Eddie admit their bisexuality to each other at some point and then realize they both have a thing for Steve. I have very little plot outside of that, but I just have this vision of Steve having these conversations with Robin like, "I think Eddie was flirting with me? But he's with Chrissy. And we both like girls. Right. We both like girls?"

And Robin is just like "..." and hijinks and such.

With a gasp, he clawed his way back into consciousness. He was lying on a wooden surface, the sound of seabirds loud overhead. Next to him, the towering shape of a man hovered, dark hair surrounding a shadowed face. With a wince, Steven curled into himself, still struggling to breathe. His chest felt like it was caught within some kind of vice. His shaky fingers grasped around his middle, looking for the source of the constriction. Right. The damn waistcoat. “Off, off” He croaked, pulling at the fastenings around his chest. The arms of his coats constricted, heavy with water, and he felt panic surge as he tried, and failed, to wiggle his arms free. “Hey, hey, need some help with that?” A man asked, and Steven nodded, frantically. “Can't... breathe-” He managed between gasps, and immediately strong hands were on him, pulling the coat off of his back. Blissfully, by the second tug it gave way, freeing his hands to finally grip the sides of the waistcoat, forgoing the fastenings completely and ripping it open- sending the little golden buttons pinging across the wooden slats beneath him. Shakily, and with great relief, he took his first unobstructed breath since this morning. “You know, it usually takes a few drinks of something stronger than salt water before a pretty boy like you asks me to tear his clothes off.”

POV — something that’s already happened, retold from another character’s perspective

writing these on the fly is challenging but also? good! which is why i keep going over two sentences but y’all know i’m no good at rules (originally written in jude’s pov)

Etta takes the proffered cigarette. She was surprised when he said they could share it, because that feels kinda... intimate? Maybe she’s overthinking it, that’s like her whole brand, but then again he’d looked pretty surprised when he said it, too, like he hadn’t thought it through first.

As soon as she took her first drag, though, she was more preoccupied with the taste. Not of the cigarette — hello, all menthols taste about the same — but with whatever Jude’s lips left behind on the filter. It’s just a hint of something sweet, but it’s got her licking her lips to chase it before she realizes how that might look. How it definitely looked, jeez, like she’s trying to get him to look at her mouth in some weirdo effort to, what, proposition him? It’s like ninety degrees and they’re in a parking lot, okay, she expressly does not want to have sex with him in this weather.

But he is looking at her mouth, so... Well. Something else to overthink later.

let's see some Hellcheer-Munch.scriv i wanna know what munch means here

Thank you, friend! It's munch like a BDSM munch (for the uninitiated, that's a get-together of kinky folks in a neutral location, meant to welcome the new and the curious to the fold). The fic itself is the 90s Kink fic I may or may not ever post. But here are the three seven sentences I just wrote (context is that Chrissy has found her way to the local munch, where shock! surprise! Eddie is a regular attendee):

“I didn’t know people really…” She reaches for her water. “Sorry. Is that rude?” “No. Although, I’m a little disappointed. All those times we hung out, and you never let on you were a secret freak?”

They were friendly-ish in high school in this version, in the sense that he sold weed to her a few times and had a big ol' crush on her but never acted on it. Chrissy is recently divorced, but NOT from Jason, who never made it past the gate post-high school. Designed to be a series of one-shots where Chrissy discovers how much she likes fucking around with kinky sex, I just need to buckle down and write it, but I keep getting distracted by, like, life.

14. what’s your worst writing habit? 

I spend way too much time worrying about what other people are going to think. Simple, but true. I get in my head about silly things, and then I worry I'm being too weird, or too out there, or too whatever. Don't get me wrong, I usually do the weird thing anyway, but yeah. I second-guess, and I shouldn't.

31. tell us about one of your characters who’s an absolute joy to write

Chrissy, for sure. I have fun with Eddie, but it's harder for me to get into a flow when I'm writing his POV. Chrissy exists as this fully realized little nugget of a person in my head, and she's the same nugget whether she's dealing with a boatload of trauma, or she just wants to get laid. She's my quirky turkey, and I love her oodles.

52. how many unfinished ideas/stories are you working on at the same time?

Too many. It is my curse. Right now for Hellcheer I have Soul, the one-shot for around Valentine's day that's also going to be my @hellcheer-au-week entry. Also the uh... Pegging that was Promised. And last night I had a weird idea for a Munington or Harrunningson or Cunningson or whatever the fuck we're calling Chrissy/Eddie/Steve this week. So that'll probably happen. Plus a dozen other flitting little butterflies of half-baked ideas.

I find that whenever life gets stressful and I have no time to write, my brain is like, "okay, bitch, but what about this one?"
