OC ask game: 2 and 25

I’d be curious to hear about both Ezra Ibaraki and Soren, but answer for whoever you feel most in the mood to write about ☺️

2. What's something about your OC that people wouldn't expect just from looking at them?

Ezra's living space is a hot fucking mess. His tent might look cute, but inside is a clusterfuck of empty wine bottles and unwashed blanket nests and he definitely lost a knife in the sheets at some point. If other people aren't seeing it, it's a disaster zone.

Soren loves cute things. While it isn't part of his personal aesthetic, he loves pastels - most of his correspondence, even his professional academic letters, are written on scented pink stationary.

Ibaraki is a sharp tactical mind. It's easy to assume from looking at her that she's a hot-blooded brawler, but she has a keen insight and a passion for strategy. (She's also a talented lanceboard player, and Gortash refused to play her again after she beat him the first few games they played together.)

🔑 (key) - What’s something your character has never told anyone? Why have they kept it a secret? What, if anything, would make them reveal it?

Thank you for the ask, lovely! I'll answer for just Breoch as, once again, my answers are pretty long-winded!

Pre-tadpole and post-tadpole Breoch would have different secrets, though they are connected.

Pre-tadpole Breoch's secret would be the existence of his lover, the drow wizard Varna Kredenza. Breoch played a dangerous game in Menzoberranzan, but he was somewhat protected due to the Patron (rather than Matron) of his House being an ancient white dragon. Any lover of his would not have the same level of protection, so could be punished in his stead. Besides, he enjoyed the excitement that secrecy brought to the relationship.

Post-tadpole Breoch would keep the secret of how his last two relationships ended. He'd be reluctant to reveal how his secret relationship with Varna turned sour, and how he used promises of love and sincerity to manipulate the people around him. His second relationship with a minor drow noblewoman called Yen Ba'Tol allowed him to love openly and freely, and brought him genuine joy. Though it was short-lived as she was poisoned by somebody in the city. The true culprit never revealed themselves (assassinations are commonplace in Menzoberranzan after all) but Breoch blames himself for her death.

Once he trusts somebody enough or if it becomes a necessity for him to be honest, he would open up about his past. Vulnerability does not come easily to him, but it's only in the sharing of his secrets that he starts to believe he's capable of change and deserving of forgiveness.

🐑: i typically watch whatever's caught my fancy at the time! so when i was at the height of my critical role obsession, for example, i crunched 70+ episodes in... something like 3 months? i cant remember the exact numbers, but i do know that i worked it out, and in order to have watched as many episodes as i did in the span of time that i watched them, i would have to have had spent no less than 8(ish) hours a day drawing + watching cr for at least 3 months (based on average) 😭 (it was during lockdown, dont judge me.)

atm whenever im drawing, im usually watching kitchen nightmares (old comfort show), or markipliers old uno, monopoly, and among us videos for some reason??? idk, ive never claimed to have had good taste.

🌛: i always struggle to define anything i do ever lmao, when doing evaluations for my drama degree it was always a battle to not just write "idk lol, seemed like a good idea at the time". but if i were really trying, i guess........ bold? im not the best at anatomy or colour theory or backgrounds, but i do think my style draws the eye, if even for a moment. bold lines, bold colours, that sort of thing. and i think if ive got a fairly unique style, even if it isnt super interesting. i like drawing really dynamic faces with strong profiles.

on a technical level tho, if there arent random white/background colour borders, and no chromatic abberation + grain + low saturation multiplied polka dots clipped to the main subject, did i really draw it?
