We're Here For You (Part 1) (HiroxReader)
I guess this could be a Hiro x Reader x Tadashi if you squint, but mostly a Hiro x Reader.
Warning: This one is darker. Read at your own risk.
Your head spun and you felt tired. Your body ached badly as you stumbled down the street in the rain.
This was it. You were going to die. Your wounds hurt badly as the sticky combination of blood, rain, and tears ran down your cheeks. Your hoodless sweatshirt had stains all over it and your jeans were ripped and faded. The hole in your left shoe kept soaking your foot every time you stepped onto the wet pavement.
And everything was soaked.
You crossed your arms against your chest and kept your head down. The rain around you seemed to cover your tracks perfectly, although the people who mugged you were long gone. The muggers liked to pick on girls who lived alone, who were misfits among the common people.
You had one older sister who was in college. She was spending three months abroad in Tokyo, working through her business degree. She'd been your guardian ever since your parents died. She typically lived in the apartment with you, but after making the hard decision to study abroad, you were alone in San Fransokyo now.
You walked into the park that was on your way home. You sat under a magnificent cherry blossom tree that gave you minimal protection from the rain. You slid down the trunk of the tree and brought your knees to your chest. You began to cry, hating what they'd done to you.
"No! Please leave me alone!"
"Oh, but think of the fun we could have…"
You cried more as the memory of feel of their hands on you all came back to you. Your bruises throbbed and your cuts oozed blood. If you went the hospital, they'd ask you for a guardian. You weren’t supposed to be left alone for so long, being a minor. You couldn’t let anyone know. The police station would create the same problem.
"Um? Hello?" Your head shot up in surprise at the figure that stood before you now. You hadn’t heard him approach because of your sobs and the rain. He had a mop of black hair and a blue hoodie zipped up. There was a gap between his teeth you instantly noticed. You met his warm brown eyes and became a deer in the headlights. "Are you okay?" he asked as he stepped closer to you. Trusting no one, you pressed yourself against the tree and flinched away from him. He stopped walking instantly. "Hey, it's okay. I won't hurt you." Your gaze dropped to the two large bulges in his jacket pockets before meeting his eyes again. He could very well have a gun…
He caught your movements and looked down at the two hands shoved in his pockets. He realized you didn’t understand. He kneeled next to you slowly, but you still hid yourself from him. He looked to be about your age. He took his hands out of his pockets and brought the items from their hiding places.
"I'm a bot fighter," he explained calmly. He placed his bot on the grass between you two next to the wad of money he had. "My name is Hiro. Hiro Hamada. I was on my way to a bot fight when I saw you. I don’t want to leave you out here alone," Hiro trailed off. You said nothing, still in shock of the events of earlier that night. "Do you live around here?" You shook your head. Your apartment was another two miles down the road. Hiro looked down in thought for a minute. "I have an older brother. I'll give him a call, okay? Maybe we can get you to a hospital," Hiro said calmly as he took his phone out. You suddenly leapt to life.
"No!" you shouted hoarsely and threw your hands out to stop him. Hiro paused his movements.
"Okay, no hospital. But you're wounded badly, I can tell. My brother is pretty good with injuries. He can fix you," Hiro said as he calmly moved your hands away from his phone. You curled back into your form and nodded. You didn’t know a whole lot about this guy, but he seemed like your only option. Hiro dialed a phone number and waited patiently. His phone was loud, so you could hear the entire conversation.
"Hiro! Where have you been?! Are you out bot fighting?! I swear, I'm going to-"
"Tadashi, listen. There's an emergency. I'm okay, but you need to get down to Cherry Park as soon as possible."
"What are you talking about?" The voice on the other end of the phone softened.
"Just bring the moped down here now," Hiro finished as his eyes traced your form.
"I'm on my way." Hiro hung up his phone and turned back to you.
"My brother's name is Tadashi. He's incredibly smart. He built a nurse robot that can scan people for injuries. When we get back to my place, I'll show you, okay?" You nodded. Hiro smiled at you. He gently reached out towards you. You closed your eyes, but didn’t flinch back.
To your surprise, he took your hand in his own and intertwined your fingers. He gave a light squeeze and you looked at him.
"Everything is going to be okay," Hiro whispered. You heard the rev of an engine and saw the lights that invaded the darkness of the park. Hiro stuffed his robot and money back into his pockets and waved at the light. The red moped stopped just next to the tree. An older boy was riding it, around eighteen or so, decked in a green blazer and brown pants. He glared at Hiro, but his eyes softened when he saw you. "This is Tadashi," Hiro gestured. Hiro stood and walked to his older brother.
"I don’t know," Hiro said as he looked down at you. You looked out into the darkness, pretending not to listen to the two brothers. "I found her here. She's barely spoken a word. She's hurt bad, Tadashi, and she refused a hospital." Tadashi looked down at you and parked the moped. He got off and crouched down in front of you calmly. You peeked up at him.
"Hey, we're not here to hurt you. We're going to help you. I'm Tadashi. I'm Hiro's older brother. We live just down the road. We're going to take you there and clean you up, okay?" You nodded and finally unfolded your form. Hiro's eyes widened at the bloodstains on your clothes. He extended his hand to you and gently pulled you up. Tadashi got back on his moped and Hiro guided you over. You looked questionably at the small space on the moped behind Tadashi. As if Hiro was sensing your thoughts, he spoke up.
"Um, you might have to ride in my lap," Hiro explained. You bit your lip. Hiro climbed on behind his brother and hooked his feet onto Tadashi's legs in order to steady himself. He patted his lap with a comforting smile as Tadashi stuck his helmet on his brother's head. You hesitantly crept over and stood next to him, not sure what to do. "Here, swing your leg over my waist and face me," Hiro calmly said as he held a hand out to you. Was this really a good idea? Getting on a bike with two strangers who claimed they wanted to help you?
You looked them both over again and decided they seemed harmless, much unlike the men who had violated you earlier that night. They were your only hope at this point. You slowly swung your left leg over Hiro's lap and climbed onto him, straddling his waist. It was an extremely awkward spot to sit in. Hiro placed a helmet on top of your head carefully.
"Okay, now put your arms here," Hiro directed as he wrapped your arms around his neck. He, in turn, held onto your waist. "Don’t want you to fall off," Hiro said with a small smirk. He nodded to Tadashi and the moped roared to life. You held on tightly to Hiro, suddenly realizing how dangerous this all was. "God, you're freezing. Come closer," Hiro told you as he tugged you closer to his body. You tucked your face into Hiro's chest and closed your eyes.
The moped stopped in a garage only a few minutes later. You peeked your eyes open and loosened your hold on Hiro.
"Let's get her to Baymax," Tadashi suggested as he got off the bike. You climbed off of Hiro's lap and limped over to steady yourself on the desk. As you stumbled, Tadashi threw his arm out and caught you. You flashed a frightened look to him at the sudden contact, but told yourself to relax. "I'll carry her upstairs," Tadashi told Hiro. He looked at you for confirmation before hooking an arm around the back of your legs and one behind your back. He hoisted you up and Hiro followed, a worried look on his face the whole way.
Tadashi carried you into a mint green room and set you down on a bed near a desk. He hurried to the other side of the room, which was mostly hidden by a divider, and grabbed a bright red case. Hiro sat beside you on the bed and joined your hand with his. Tadashi set the case in front of the bed and stepped back.
"Ow," Tadashi said, looking at the case. You gave him a confused look. The case popped open and a big white thing inflated before your eyes. You were extremely surprised to see it.
"This is Baymax. He's my brother's invention. His goal is to help the sick and injured. He's going to scan you and provide medicine for your wounds," Hiro explained, not letting go of your hand. You took those few seconds to realize how good looking Hiro was. Those brown eyes were really distracting…
"Hello, I am Baymax, your personal healthcare companion. I was alerted to the need for medical attention when you said, 'ow'. What seems to be the problem?"
"We need you to scan her, Baymax," Tadashi said as he gestured to you. The robot looked at you and gazed you over. You knew everything that had happened to you was about to be revealed, and you were terrified. Hiro wrapped an arm around your shaking form.
"Scan complete. The patient is suffering from contusions and several lacerations on her face, arms, stomach, and legs. She is also a recent victim of sexual harassment, judging by the contusions." Hiro's grip on you tightened. Tadashi's stomach flipped. "I suggest cleaning the wounds and an icepack for the contusion on your lower back. After, a long rest is recommended," the robot explained. You looked down in embarrassment. After a moment of silence, Tadashi spoke up.
"Thank you, Baymax. I'm satisfied with my care." The robot shrunk back into its box and the room fell silent. "I'll be right back," Tadashi said without looking at you two. He calmly walked down the stairs. You didn’t notice your tears until Hiro wiped one away.
"Is he okay?" you asked as Tadashi left the room. Hiro nodded.
"Yeah. My brother is like that. He wants to help people. He gets upset when something bad happens to someone, even when it isn’t his or her fault. Don’t worry; he'll be back in a bit. You'd probably like to clean up, so let's focus on that first," Hiro suggested as he slipped his arm away. He got up and walked over to the bathroom that was connected to the room. You heard the water start running and the tub fill up. He came back in with his sleeves rolled up and walked over to you. He looked you over before giving you a stack of clothes. "These are mine. They look like they’ll fit you okay," Hiro explained.
"Thank you," you quietly replied. You got up off of the bed and walked toward the bathroom.
"If you need anything, just yell," Hiro said as he sat down in the desk chair. You nodded with a small smile.
"I'm (Y/N)," you said before you stepped into the bathroom and shut the door.
Once you had taken off your clothes, you looked in the mirror at your mangled form. Your hair was out of place and your eyes were bloodshot. Bruises lined your stomach and thighs and parts of your chest and arms. You were eager to wash away all traces of them.
After a long soak in the hot water, you slipped on the clothes that Hiro had given you. It felt good to be comfy again. You gave a sigh and stepped out of the bathroom, leaving your old clothes folded in a pile near the tub. Hiro turned to you with a smile. He was dressed comfortably now, in pajama pants and a loose shirt. Tadashi set down the book he was reading.
"Hi," you replied. You sat on his bed and kicked your feet around, not really knowing what to say.
"Sore," you replied. "But a bit comfier now. Thank you," you finished. He nodded.
"Do you want to talk about it?" Your face paled and your stomach dropped. Your eyes darted to the other side of the room. Tadashi sat on the edge of his bed, a warm smile on his face. He was dressed in a white pajama shirt and green pajama pants. Your eyes drifted off and lazily focused on the book Tadashi had set down. In gold lettering, the name 'Sterling Holloway' graced the cover of the book. You found the lettering more interesting than either of the curious faces staring at you.
You swallowed hard and looked back at Hiro. He got up and sat next to you on the bed. He took your hand in his and nodded. "We're here for you. We may be almost strangers to you, but neither of us likes to see a girl like you hurt."
Tadashi stood from his bed and grabbed the desk chair. He rolled it over to Hiro's bed and sat in front of you. He placed his elbows on his knees and leaned on his hands and nodded to you. You already felt like he was an older brother and Hiro was quickly becoming a close friend.
"I was walking home from school. I've been there late at night because of my tutoring schedule. I live with my older sister, but she's in Tokyo right now, studying abroad at Medfield College. We live in an apartment that’s a few miles from the school. The walk is a bit long, but most of the time not terrible.
"I was on my way to the apartment when a man stopped me. He told me about how pretty I was, and how much fun he could have with me." You squeezed your eyes shut and gripped Hiro's hand. Hiro wrapped an arm around your shoulders and pulled you closer. "I tried to stop him, but he didn’t listen. I tried to scream, but he threatened me. He was so much stronger than I was…" Fresh tears started all over again as you remembered the horrid experience. Hiro used his free hand to wipe them away as Tadashi took your hand. "He dragged me to a dark corner of the alley. He forced me to do things, all kinds of sexual harassment. Once he was done with me, he beat me. He threw my clothes back to me and told me to vanish. And if I said anything to the police, he would come find me and kill me.
"I'm living alone right now with my sister gone, but the police don’t know that. Since I'm a minor, I'm not supposed to live alone. But I do right now, so I can't go anywhere where I would need a legal guardian," you concluded. "I put my clothes back on and began to walk. It started to rain, and I didn’t want to go home to an empty house, so I ended up in the park. That’s when Hiro found me." The room was silent for a few seconds before Tadashi took a deep breath and spoke up.
"I think the best idea right now is to call your sister and explain the situation. You don’t have to call her now; I'm sure tomorrow morning is fine. Tell her whom you're with, and I'll talk to her on the phone. I'm eighteen, and I'll take you to the hospital tomorrow after I talk to your sister as your temporary guardian. We can worry about medical bills later. Until your sister finishes her term in Tokyo, you're going to stay here with us. We can set up another bed up here and we'll get some stuff from your apartment and bring it here for the next couple of weeks. And until we catch that guy, you're under my watch," Tadashi reassured. You smiled at him.
"Okay," you agreed. Tadashi nodded and looked to Hiro.
"That means you too, Hiro."
"Trust me Tadashi, I know. (Y/N) is under both of our protection. I won't let you get hurt again, I promise. We'll talk to our Aunt Cass tomorrow too. She'll love you, trust me," Hiro said with a smile. You nodded.
"Thank you both so much," you said as you leaned into Hiro's grip on you. "I really can't even express my thanks. I'm still a total stranger to both of you. I already feel like I have an older brother, Tadashi," you said with a small laugh. "And Hiro, you're one of the sweetest guys I've ever met." You failed to notice the blush on Hiro's cheeks.
"You probably should get some sleep. You sleep up here, I'll sleep down on the couch," Hiro said as he began to stand up. Tadashi stood, gave your shoulder a squeeze and gave you a warm smile, and pushed the desk chair back. You reached out and grabbed Hiro's wrist.
"Wait," you stopped him. Hiro looked down at you.
"Can you stay with me? I'd feel safer with both of you up here," you explained as you looked at the floor.
"Sure. I'll sleep in Tadashi's bed with him," Hiro said as he smiled at you and nodded his head toward the other side of the room.
"No, you can stay in your bed with me…if that’s okay with you?" you asked gently as you looked up at him. You wanted someone to hold onto tonight. You needed someone to hold onto. Hiro intertwined your fingers and nodded.
"Yeah," he stuttered out. Tadashi turned off the light as you and Hiro climbed into his bed. Tadashi climbed into his own bed. You and Hiro tucked yourself under the covers. You slowly scooted closer to him until he wrapped his arm around you protectively. "Is this okay?" You nodded against his chest. You pressed yourself even closer his body and closed your eyes. "I'll be here all night until you wake up, okay? I'm right here. Nothing can hurt you."
"Okay," you replied, your voice laced with sleep. Hiro forced all his energy into staying awake until he felt your steady breathing against his neck. He sighed in relief and tangled a hand in your hair, cradling your head to his chest.
"It's going to be okay," Hiro whispered before he too slipped into sleep.
