Day 5: Red String
Something about you just made sense.
Soooo... I know it's a crack ship and they've never even met in the manga (which is a shame by the way!), but I'll ship Toushiro and Karin to death and no one can tell me otherwise! Itìs been ages sice I last drew anything, but lately I've heard of the renewal of the Bleach Anime and my love for these two resurfaced! Mostly because I hope some Hitsukarin fillers will be incorporated in the series, but still.

Her Family
Day 3 Meet the family
Words: 1000+
Summary: Toshiro Meeting some of Karin´s family He knew that he would always be welcomed to enter that house but he never showed up, not even once, not after how they ended things anyways.
So he didn't know why he was entering the house this time, after so many years.
When he entered the front yard of the house he heard children playing, they were all laughing and no one seemed to notice him, he didn't even bother to get a gigai so he was used to it. Besides those children weren't really the reason why he was there anyways.
He spotted the reason of his visit sitting on the platform just outside of the house, she was drinking tea.
He noticed that she saw him, her expression told him that she knew he was there long before he decided to show up. After all, she always had her ways to feel his presence.
“Hello Karin" he said once he was standing next to her.
“Hello there Toshiro, why don't you come here and sit down. I knew you were coming so I prepared you a cup” her voice was soft, low, barely a whisper. But he still heard her.
Silence.
Neither of them knew what exactly to say in that situation so Karin decided to break the ice “so, what do I own the pleasure of meeting you today great captain Hitsugaya?” there may be wrinkles on her face and her once perfect black hair was almost as white as his own, but she still sounded the same as if she never aged.
“is it a crime to visit the human world?” He replied seriously because it felt too nostalgic to chuckle at her comments.
“No, it is not, but you and I both know that they don't really send a captain here for nothing. So why are you here?” So many years later? He could almost hear what was left unsaid.
He turned his head to look at her, to take a better look at her. Karin was dressed like what most people her age would wear.
She wasn't looking at him when they talked, in fact, she was looking at the children playing around in front of them.
He actually recognized them as her grandchildren. He may have never met them in person because he never entered the house even once, but he had been around some times to see what was going on around Karin's life. So technically he had been there and met her family before and he knew that she knew he was there but didn't show himself.
“I came for personal reasons, nothing related to business” he assured her after observing her for a while.
“I see, then I'm glad you actually showed up this time.” she said.
He didn't know what to say to that. So instead he didn't say anything and looked at where she was looking at, those children.
“Are you happy?” He couldn't help but ask after seeing her observing those children.
“Honestly? I don't know” she said. He couldn't read that expression. “I can't complain, this was my choice after all. I could have had the life I really wanted, but it wouldn't be the best choice, would it?” asked rhetorically.
He nodded, they had talked about this before. And he thought that she was right, she really did thought about the future.
“But maybe it's not really that bad, not as I originally thought it would be. At least I love my children and my grandchildren. Maybe they are the real reason why I haven't abandoned this life yet. It would be selfish of me to do that.” She said.
“You have thought about abandoning this life?” He asked. He knew it was one of the solutions they once had, but he would never want Karin to kill herself.
“I might have, more than that I would have liked. I know this is what we have decided but sometimes I just wish things had gone a little different, I thought about the what-ifs, I thought about what if I let you give up everything for me, or what would be different if I had given up my life.” she replied.
“I would never let you throw away your life for me.” he said.
“I know, that's the exact reason why in the end we decided this. Because I didn't want you to throw away the life you worked so hard for either.”
He wanted to say something, he wanted to tell her that his life wasn't something he truly wanted, at least not the way he always imagined it would be as a child, but he never got the chance as one of the children walked over to them.
“Granny Karin, are you talking to a ghost again?” The little boy asked.
Karin rubbed the little boy’s black hair. This was her youngest grandson, her son's second child.
“Indeed I am”
“Hello! Mr ghost, my name is Toshiro, what's yours? I can't see you but granny can see you!” the 5 year old introduced himself.
Toshiro was shocked that the boy was named after him. “Shiro, why don't you go back to play with your sister and cousins? Mr ghost and I still have things to talk about and it's too scary for your little head” Karin smiled down at the boy who nodded then ran away again.
“He's named after me?” Toshiro finally asked once the boy was away.
“My son is a big fan of yours, when he was young I told him stories about you and he liked you, he looked up to you. And you know he's not the only one who looked up to you. I did too, still do and always will.” She said with a sad smile on her face.
He hasn’t felt that warm for a long time. And this time he was certain that it wasn't because of the tea still hot in his hands.
“Karin…”
“You don't have to say anything, you are still horrible at this.” She let out a small laugh “I just want you to know that I still love you” she added.
He looked away “I know” he managed to mumble out. Karin let out a small sigh, finally a content sigh. While he didn't exactly say those 3 words, she knew that with the “I know” he meant everything.
“I'm glad.”
