Skeksis aren’t inherently evil, or even inherently bad. The horrible choices they made were their own, and drinking essence didn’t just make them lose their inhabitations -- it very demonstrably makes some of them do a hard 180.
They’re also not colonizers, at least not from a Watsonian reading. They were born on Thra, and I’d argue that they’re at least somewhat part of it.
They’re their own individual beings, and their refusing into UrSkeks was a kind of death, and deeply tragic.
For the most part, they stick together, and the fact that they delight in punishment rituals doesn’t mean they don’t care about each other.
They enjoy flowery baths too much to smell bad, and have the Podlings to do their washing. They probably smell fine.
